Samsung Galaxy S24 Series: Bridging the Performance Gap
Recently, we’ve noticed that Samsung is gearing up for the launch of their Galaxy S24 series. This new lineup will feature two processor versions: one powered by Samsung’s own Exynos chip and the other by the Snapdragon processor. Reports from international media suggest that Samsung is making strides in reducing the performance gap between the Exynos 2400 and the Snapdragon 8 3rd generation through optimization efforts.
A closer look at the latest Geekbench benchmark tests reveals a significant leap in performance for the Exynos chip. The single-core score has improved from 2067 to 2193, while the multi-core score has soared from 6520 to 6895.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra with the Snapdragon processor, on the other hand, has achieved a single-core score of 2297 and a multi-core score of 7104. While Qualcomm’s Snapdragon continues to lead, the substantial progress made by the Exynos 2400 demonstrates Samsung’s strong commitment to closing the performance gap.
The Exynos 2400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chips employ different CPU core configurations. Exynos uses a “1+2+3+4” layout, whereas Snapdragon has opted for a “1+3+2+2” configuration. Despite these differences, both have shown noteworthy performance improvements in the latest benchmark tests.
It’s important to note that the Exynos 2400 features two additional low-power cores, which may enhance its battery life. However, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 compensates for performance by increasing the frequency of the base and prime cores, thereby maintaining its current edge in performance.
In summary, as the Galaxy S24 series approaches its release, Samsung has achieved significant advancements in performance. Even though the Exynos 2400 still somewhat lags behind the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the clear trend of improvement gives us good reason to believe that the future of Samsung’s mobile performance will be even more impressive.
