Intel 14th Gen Core HX & U Series Launch

On January 9, 2024, Intel has unveiled its latest 14th generation Core mobile and desktop processor lineup, including the all-new Core HX series for mobile enthusiasts, as well as the mainstream 65W and 35W desktop processors. In addition, Intel has also launched the new Intel Core mobile processor 1 series, designed for high-performance, mainstream ultrabooks.

14th Generation Core HX Series: Exceptional Performance Experience for Mobile Enthusiasts

The new Intel 14th generation Core HX mobile processors have been created to cater to gamers, content creators, and professionals, aiming to deliver superb computing performance and notebook portability. Within this new line of Intel Core HX processors, the i9-14900HX comes equipped with 8 performance cores and 16 efficiency cores, offering impressive connectivity and stunning single-thread and multi-thread performance. Furthermore, the Core i7-14700HX processor boasts a 50% increase in efficiency cores, propelling the HX series to new heights in creative performance.

Highlights of the 14th Generation Core HX Series include:

  • Turbo frequencies reaching up to 5.8 GHz, enhancing gaming performance and multitasking capabilities.
  • The i9-14900HX processor can have up to 24 cores (8 performance cores and 16 efficiency cores) and 32 threads.
  • The i7-14700HX has seen a 50% increase in its efficiency cores, boasting 20 cores (8 performance cores and 12 efficiency cores) and 28 threads.
  • Support for up to 192GB of DDR5-5600 memory.
  • Excellent overclocking features in the HX series processors, with support for Intel Extreme Utility (XTU) and Intel Extreme Memory Profile (XMP).

Intel has expanded the 14th generation Core desktop processor family to enable mainstream PC users and various vertical market enterprises to experience the exceptional performance of the latest generation of Intel’s desktop processors in new ways. The latest Intel 14th-gen desktop processors bring:

  • Turbo frequencies reaching up to 5.8 GHz, with up to a 37% improvement in multi-threaded performance and a 7% uplift in Microsoft Office performance compared to the previous generation.
  • The i9-14900 processor has up to 24 cores (8 performance cores and 16 efficiency cores) and 32 threads.
  • The i7-14700 processor features an additional 4 efficiency cores, totaling 20 cores (8 performance cores and 12 efficiency cores) and 28 threads.

Support for up to 192GB of DDR5-5600/DDR4-3200 memory, with backward compatibility with current Intel 600 and 700 series chipsets.

Continued support for boxed cooling solutions with Intel Laminar RH1 and RM1 coolers.

  • Next-generation wireless connectivity with support for Intel Killer Wi-Fi 7 and Intel Killer Wi-Fi 6E.
  • Continued support for PCIe Gen 5.0, Gen 4.0, and Thunderbolt 4 with 40 Gbps bandwidth. In addition, it supports integrated USB 3.2 to provide up to 20 Gbps transfer bandwidth.

Intel Core U-Series 1: Positioned for Lower Price and Ultra-Thin Notebooks

The newly introduced Core U-Series 1 processors mainly focus on meeting user expectations for genuine ultrabooks (as opposed to performance-heavy “light” notebooks), with a standard TDP of 15W and a maximum power delivery of 55W, balancing performance and power consumption on ultrabooks. At the same time, the Core U-Series 1 processors do not compromise on platform functionality.

The new Intel Core U-Series 1 processors offer:

  • Turbo frequency reaching up to 5.4 GHz, with the Intel Core 7-150U processor featuring 10 cores (2 performance cores and 8 efficiency cores) and 12 threads.
  • Support for up to 96GB of DDR5-5200/DDR4-3200 memory.

Supports Thunderbolt 4 universal connectivity for work and entertainment, providing 40 Gbps of bandwidth for connecting multiple 4K monitors and accessories.

  • Support for 8 PCIe Gen 4.0 and 12 PCIe Gen 3.0 lanes, for the latest in solid-state storage drives.
  • Support for the latest Bluetooth 5.4 and Bluetooth 5.3, including Bluetooth Low Energy Audio for immersive, high-fidelity PC audio experiences at low power. It also introduces the new Bluetooth Auracast broadcast audio feature for audio tuning, personal audio sharing, and enhanced use of hearing aids and new hearing services.
