Huawei P70 Series: Rumored Specs and Features
It has been previously rumored that the Huawei P70 series will include at least three models: the standard version, the Pro version, and the Art version. The Huawei P70 Pro and Art versions are expected to feature the well-known 50-megapixel Sony IMX989 one-inch large bottom sensor with variable aperture support. Additionally, they are said to come with an exclusive 4X periscope zoom lens. Recent leaks from digital bloggers support these claims, with the possible release date being in March, as per the latest information.
Digital blogger @智慧皮卡丘 revealed, “#华为p70# The use of the imx989 in the Huawei P70 series is very mature, as this sensor has been available for quite some time. The aperture and focusing imaging are both superior to the previous version. The progress is fast, and the release might be in March. Also, the testing of a near 2k screen is in the plan for the second half of the year.” Previously, digital blogger @数码闲聊站 had hinted that the Huawei P70 series would feature the Huawei OV50H with physical variable aperture. Considering both leaks, it is anticipated that the 1/1.3-inch OV50H sensor and the one-inch IMX989 sensor (actually 1.02 inches) will be used in different models.
According to recent leaks, the rear camera module of the Huawei P70 series is rumored to feature a triangular deco design, as seen in renderings of the series circulating on the internet. The transition between the back edge of the device and the middle frame is curved, giving the phone a unique look. The rear camera module retains its position on the upper left corner of the phone’s back, comprising a three-camera setup with a rounded rectangular design. The three lenses are arranged in a triangular pattern, with the middle lens being the largest and the Huawei imaging brand XMAGE logo placed above it. The flash is located on the left side of this module.
Recently, @数码闲聊站 also disclosed information about the screen of the suspected Huawei P70 series. With the advancement of various aspects of local screen technology, the 8T LTPO has reportedly resolved eye protection challenges through solutions such as 3Pulse/1Pulse and high-frequency dimming, gaining increasing user acceptance. The suspected Huawei P70 series is expected to utilize flagship national screens from four manufacturers: BOE, CSOT, Visionox, and Tianma.
In terms of performance, earlier leaks suggest that the Huawei P70 series will at least include three models: P70, P70 Pro, and P70 Art, with the possibility of being equipped with the Kirin 9000S and Kirin 9010 processors. Some sources indicate that all models may come with the Kirin 9010 processor, which is expected to achieve benchmark scores comparable to the Snapdragon 8 Gen2. Additionally, it is speculated that the series will continue to support satellite communication – the standard version might support the BeiDou satellite system, while the Pro version and above could enable satellite calls. Furthermore, the new series is expected to feature a high-density battery of around 5000mAh and support stereo speakers.
According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the Huawei P70 series is anticipated to achieve a 100%-120% year-on-year growth in shipments in the first half of this year, potentially making it a best-selling flagship for Huawei. Kuo also predicts that Huawei’s phone shipments in 2024 will reach at least 60 million units, positioning Huawei as the fastest-growing global mobile brand. However, the information available about the Huawei P70 series is still in the rumor stage, and the exact details about its appearance, specifications, and release date will have to await official confirmation.
