Recently, CNMO learned from foreign media that some iPhone users are encountering issues while upgrading to iOS 17.3, receiving a prompt on their phones stating “Unable to Verify Update”.
It has been reported that some members of the Apple community and certain Reddit users have faced difficulties in downloading the iOS 17.3 update. Some individuals are presented with a pop-up window indicating the inability to verify the update, thus preventing the upgrade to iOS 17.3. As depicted in the image, the pop-up window offers users two options: “Retry” and “Remind Me Later”. According to one Reddit user, simply choosing “Retry” allows for the successful installation of iOS 17.3.
However, the original poster of a thread mentioned that they still couldn’t install the update. A Reddit user named ShibamMandal suggested that iPhone users experiencing issues upgrading to iOS 17.3 should navigate to “Settings” > “General” > “iPhone Storage”. From there, they should delete the iOS 17.3 update from the list of applications. Subsequently, they should forcefully restart the iPhone following these steps:
- Press and quickly release the volume up button;
- Press and quickly release the volume down button;
- Press and hold the power button until the Apple logo appears, then release it.
After restarting the iPhone, users can go to “General” > “Software Update” to attempt the installation of iOS 17.3 again. Other Reddit users mentioned that they had previously used this method to resolve persistent software update issues.
Furthermore, foreign media issued a warning – users should try to avoid internet connection interruptions while downloading updates since some speculate that this is a major reason why software updates fail to install on iPhones.
