In the blink of an eye, it’s already February 2024, and the Spring Festival is just around the corner.

At the end of last month, major market research institutions successively released the report on China’s smartphone sales in the fourth quarter of 2023.

According to data from Counterpoint Research, smartphone sales in China in Q4 2023 increased by 6.6% compared to the same period last year, achieving growth for the first time after 10 consecutive quarters of decline.

In terms of specific brands, Apple’s shipments decreased by 9.0% year-on-year, but still maintained its first place with a market share of 20.2%.

Following closely behind are Xiaomi (16%) and Huawei (15.2%), with the former growing by 36.4% year-on-year, and the latter skyrocketing by 71.1%.

It is evident from this report that Xiaomi’s strategy is beginning to pay off, while Huawei, powered by the Kirin 9000S and 4.999G-equipped Mate 60 series, has made a remarkable comeback.

From this report, it’s clear that with Huawei’s return and Xiaomi’s push towards the high-end market, Apple’s market share is starting to be eaten away by Chinese brands.

And just recently, news of #Huawei reclaiming the top spot in China’s smartphone market once again went viral.

According to the latest report from Counterpoint Research, in the first two weeks of 2024, Huawei swiftly climbed back to the number one spot in China’s smartphone market.

This news signifies that Huawei, which once firmly held the top spot in the domestic phone market, is back in action.

As we all know, since being sanctioned in 2019, Huawei’s market share has been declining, reaching the point where it was considered as “other” at its lowest.

After 5 years, Huawei once again claims the top spot in the domestic market, regaining its champion status, which is of great significance.

In stark contrast, Apple’s share has been gradually slipping. With challenges from Huawei in the front and Xiaomi at its heels, if the iPhone 16 series continues to struggle, Apple’s dominance in the domestic high-end market may be at risk.

Counterpoint attributes Huawei’s return to the top to three main factors.

Firstly, the ongoing popularity of the Mate 60 series, powered by the Kirin 9000S chip.

Recently, a blogger mentioned that the Mate 60 series broke sales records compared to previous generations in just 4 months, even under conditions of high demand.

Secondly, Huawei’s self-developed HarmonyOS operating system has also played a significant role.

The latest HarmonyOS 4.0, with its large models, new features, and design, has been widely welcomed by users.

Moreover, Huawei has introduced the HarmonyOS Star River edition, which completely removes the Android code. With continuous big moves, they are leaving their mark step by step.

Lastly, Huawei’s strong brand loyalty has been a crucial factor.

Despite the sanctions, many users have remained loyal to Huawei, even without 5G connectivity.

With the release of the Mate 60 series, many users who switched to other phone brands have returned as well.

It must be said, Huawei is still going strong.

Without any surprises, Huawei is very likely to secure the top spot in China’s smartphone market for the whole of 2024, not just for two weeks, a month, or a quarter.

Because the P70 series in the first half of the year, the Mate 70 series in the second half, and the upcoming HarmonyOS Star River edition will be Huawei’s next set of “killer apps”.

According to current information, the imaging technology of the Huawei P70 series will receive a significant upgrade, and the Mate 70 series is likely to feature a new generation Kirin chip.

As for the HarmonyOS Star River edition, being Huawei’s brand new operating system, it will completely detach from Android, marking a significant transformation.

Currently, major internet giants are rushing to adapt to the HarmonyOS Star River edition. This new system holds great promise and is expected to be a key selling point in the future.

In conclusion, Huawei is set to deliver another impressive performance this year.

Let’s look forward to it together!
