Snapdragon 8 Gen2 Flagship’s Big Discount: 16GB+256GB+2K Display, Save $1183

Last year, the number of high-end flagship releases reached several dozens by the end of the year. With so many new models hitting the market simultaneously, it inevitably intensified competition, leading to price reductions.

The iQOO 11S is the performance flagship of vivo’s online brand iQOO, released in July last year. It is an upgraded version of the iQOO 11.

At that time, Qualcomm launched the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 overclocked version with higher frequencies and stronger performance. It was expected that the iQOO 11S would also come equipped with it, but surprisingly it did not, probably due to high costs and marginal performance improvements. Instead, it still features the standard Snapdragon 8 Gen2. However, since the “S” suffix is capitalized, it indicates significant upgrades.

Compared to the iQOO 11, the iQOO 11S did not change the screen and processor, but only upgraded the main camera and battery.

The main camera of the iQOO 11 features a 50-megapixel Samsung GN5 sensor, which was introduced in 2021. With a 1/1.57-inch photosensitive area, it can compete with the Sony IMX766 sensor, representing a standard sensor for mid-range phones. However, Chinese phone manufacturers prefer using Sony sensors due to their technological advancements and easier optimization over the years. There are not many smartphones equipped with the Samsung GN5 sensor.

The main camera of the iQOO 11S has been upgraded to the Sony IMX866 with a sensor size of 1/1.56 inches, similar in performance to the Samsung GN5 but with better results due to optimization.

The 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens remains unchanged.

Portrait photography is a strength of vivo, and the 13-megapixel portrait lens of the iQOO 11 is retained without changes.

After the upgrade, the imaging capabilities of the iQOO 11S are strengthened, reaching a flagship-level quality.

In terms of battery life, the iQOO 11 features a built-in 5000mAh battery with support for 120W fast charging. The iQOO 11S has been upgraded to a 4700mAh battery with support for 200W fast charging, which is the same as the iQOO 11 Pro’s battery combination.

The Realme GT5 flagship version features the fastest 240W wired charging, with the iQOO 11 Pro ranking second.

However, the charging time difference between 120W and 200W is not significant. The 200W charger occupies more space due to enhanced protective measures, resulting in a noticeable reduction in battery capacity. Although the reduction is only 300mAh, even 100mAh can be crucial for users in critical moments. This leads to a dilemma where opting for a larger battery necessitates choosing 120W fast charging, while desiring shorter charging times requires sacrificing some battery capacity.

The screen remains the same as the iQOO 11, featuring a 2K resolution E6 Samsung AMOLED flexible screen, supporting a 144Hz refresh rate and 1440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming.

Samsung’s smartphone screens remain among the world’s best but at a higher cost compared to domestic screens. Unfortunately, the iQOO 11S did not adopt an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor like the iQOO 11 Pro; instead, it features a conventional optical fingerprint sensor, a minor regret.

It’s worth noting that the iQOO 11S is a gaming smartphone designed for esports players, featuring pressure sensitivity in the dual-control screen. To utilize this feature, the screen stand must be retained, meaning the iQOO 11S comes with a screen stand. However, a good screen is evidently more important than a screen stand. Furthermore, the price of the iQOO 11S has dropped to an attractive level.

The 12GB+256GB version has decreased from 3799 yuan to 2848 yuan, the 16GB+256GB version from 4099 yuan to 2916 yuan, and the 16GB+1TB version from 4799 yuan to 3825 yuan.

The 16GB+256GB version offers the best value with a reduction of 1183 yuan.

There are no bad products, only unreasonable prices. With the iQOO 11S dropping to this price, it can be considered a great deal.
