Apple’s Prototyping iPhone Fold: Facing Challenges in Durability and Screen Creases
Apple is currently developing prototypes for the iPhone Fold; however, rumors suggest that they are facing challenges in terms of durability and screen creases.
It is unlikely that the foldable iPhone will be released in 2024 or 2025. At present, there are at least two prototypes of foldable iPhones under development.
It is expected that Apple’s foldable product will have a seamless display without any creases or visible joins when opening and closing. When fully closed, the device’s thickness should be only slightly thicker than the current iPhone, while when open, its size should be similar to that of an iPad mini.
The “iPhone Fold” is expected to come with a USB-C port and support MagSafe. Apple may incorporate Face ID; however, placing this biometric sensor on a product that can be both opened and closed poses some complexities.
