The Flagship Battle of 2024: Xiaomi 14 Ultra Unveiled

The curtains have fallen on the launch event of Xiaomi 14 Ultra, heralding the official start of the flagship battle in 2024. As Xiaomi’s annual flagship, Xiaomi 14 Ultra has indeed stirred up a lot of controversy, especially upon seeing its price tag. Although not cheap, it is positioned to become a financial investment product.

As a top-tier flagship, Xiaomi 14 Ultra boasts top-notch performance across the board. The Snapdragon 8Gen3 is surely a standard configuration. No need to mention LPDDR5X + UFS 4.0. To ensure the stability of the phone, the cooling system has been enhanced by using dual-loop ring liquid cooling technology.

The device sports a 6.73-inch 2K Hua Xin display, supporting DC dimming, 1920Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, and 3000nit peak brightness. Moreover, it features a fully symmetrical micro-curved screen with Dragontrail glass, not only enhancing its aesthetics but also preventing accidental touches associated with curved screens, significantly improving durability against drops.

When it comes to reliability, Xiaomi 14 Ultra leaves no room for doubt. It introduces the Dragon Armor architecture, which, in addition to the aforementioned Dragontrail glass, incorporates a high-strength aluminum alloy frame, a brand-new technology nano-skin, and a 6-fold increase in wear resistance. It can be said that Xiaomi 14 Ultra is fully equipped from top to bottom, inside out, in order to enhance its durability.

The camera is a focal point of the upgrades in Xiaomi 14 Ultra. The front camera boasts 32 million pixels, while the main camera features a 1-inch Sony LYT900 sensor that supports stepless variable aperture. Additionally, it includes three IMX858 sub-cameras that support dual telephoto: a 3.2X floating telephoto and a 5X periscope telephoto. With a Leica optical Summilux lens, a brand-new master mode, it adds a cinematic level to the images, allowing visual stories to resonate deeply with the audience, giving a remarkably real and vivid sense of presence to the creations of Xiaomi 14 Ultra. The incorporation of AISP is also an industry first.

In terms of battery life, the capacity has been increased to 5300mAh, along with a combination of 90W wired charging and 80W wireless charging. Paired with a shooting handle, the battery capacity can reach 6800mAh.

Other features include IP68 rating, dual satellite communications, NFC, infrared, X-axis motor, ultra-high-screen fingerprint recognition, T1/P2/G1 self-developed chips, additional ceramic and titanium alloy body materials, a body thickness of 9.2mm, and a weight ranging from 224g to 229g.

In terms of pricing, the 12+256 variant is priced at 649 yuan, the 16+512 variant at 6999 yuan, the 16+1TB variant at 7799 yuan, and the titanium alloy 16+1TB variant at 8799 yuan. The titanium alloy version will be available for supply in March since the yield rate is low, which may lead to limited supply, making it highly likely to become a financial investment product.

Xiaomi 14 Ultra

Overall, Xiaomi 14 Ultra seems more like a camera flagship targeted at a broader audience, addressing the shortcomings of the previous generation while leaving no gaps in terms of specifications. Considering the significant improvements made, the price increase of only 500 yuan can be seen as quite reasonable.
