Q4 2023 Mobile Shipments: Apple leads with 23%, Samsung at 16%, followed by Xiaomi with 13%.

Global Smartphone Shipment Report Q4 2023

On February 28, IT Home reported that according to the market research firm Counterpoint Research, global smartphone shipments in the fourth quarter of 2023 reached 323.2 million units, with a 7% year-on-year growth and an 8% quarter-on-quarter growth.

IT Home provided key highlights from the report:

  • Apple’s shipments increased by 2% year-on-year, surpassing Samsung in the fourth quarter of 2023 to take the top spot.
  • Samsung’s smartphone shipments in Q4 2023 decreased by 9% compared to the previous year. It lost ground to Apple in the high-end market, and to Chinese original equipment manufacturers like Xiaomi in the mid-range market, as well as to the Transsion brand in the entry-level market.
  • Despite this, Samsung maintained its position as the global leader in smartphone yearly sales for 2023.
  • Among the top five smartphone brands, Xiaomi saw the largest growth in Q4 2023, with a 23% year-on-year increase, reaching 40.7 million units.
  • Honor achieved double-digit healthy growth, with a 27% year-on-year increase, while Huawei saw triple-digit growth, being the only OEM among the top ten manufacturers to achieve triple-digit growth.
  • Regionally, the Middle East and Africa (MEA) had the highest increase in annual shipments, while Europe experienced the largest decline.
  • In the Asian market, Apple accounted for 18% of smartphone shipments, Xiaomi 14%, vivo 14%, OPPO 13%, Samsung 10%, and Huawei 7%.
