Huawei Launches 5 Hits, Sells 10M in 6 Mos!

Huawei’s Stellar Performance in the Chinese Smartphone Market

According to the latest China Smartphone Market Weekly Sales Tracking Report released by Counterpoint Research, in the first six weeks of 2024, Huawei saw a remarkable 64% year-on-year increase in the Chinese smartphone market, while Apple experienced a 24% year-on-year decline. Huawei’s success can be attributed to the Mate60 series, MateX5, and nova12 series launched in the second half of last year.

As per recent reports, as of March 1st, the cumulative sales of the Mate60 series and Mate X5, which have been on the market for 6 months, have exceeded 10 million units, showcasing a significant lead.

The Mate 60 series consists of four models: Mate60, Mate60Pro, Mate60Pro+, and Mate60RS Maestro. Mate60Pro was the first to hit the market, directly released without a launch event on August 29, 2023, catching Apple off guard. The Mate X5 was unveiled on September 8, 2023.

All five models are powered by the return of the Kirin 9000S chip, supporting 5G. With Kirin 9000S, satellite calling, Pengwu architecture, and enhanced imaging capabilities, many consumers are willing to forgo other brands in favor of Huawei.

Reportedly, Huawei’s Mate 60 Pro is the most domestically produced phone to date, with over 90% of domestically produced components. The upcoming P70 series is expected to further increase the proportion of domestically produced components and potentially self-develop core CMOS sensors, reducing dependence on international giants like Sony and Samsung.

There are rumors that the release of the P70 series, initially scheduled for the end of March, may be delayed until April, although this has not been officially confirmed by Huawei.

Compared to the Mate60 series, the P70 series will introduce a 1-inch main camera sensor for the first time, along with new satellite communication technology, among other selling points. The prices are expected to be slightly lower than the Mate60 series, potentially making it the successor to the Mate60 series as Huawei’s next flagship hit.

Earlier, renowned analyst Guo Mingqi from Tianfeng International Securities predicted that the P70 series would include three models: P70, P70 Pro, and P70 Art. With upgrades in camera specifications (1-inch main camera sensor + new periscope telephoto lens) and the use of the self-developed Kirin 9000S chip, the P70 series is anticipated to achieve a significant growth in shipments in 2024, with a potential increase of up to 230%, reaching 13-15 million units (compared to 4-5 million units for the P60 series in 2023).

Industry experts indicate that Huawei’s target smartphone sales for this year are set between 60-70 million units. In the fourth quarter of last year, Huawei re-entered the top 5 in the domestic market. This year, its ranking in the domestic market is expected to hit a new high in the past two years, and there’s a possibility of reclaiming the top spot.

After resolving production capacity issues, many versions of the Mate60 series and Mate X5 are now available for immediate purchase, with some channels offering rare discounts.

Third-party channel prices for the Mate60 series are several hundred yuan lower than official prices, and the same applies to certain versions of the Mate X5.

Huawei is truly way ahead! With 5 new models hitting the market, sales have exceeded 10 million units in just 6 months! Between Huawei and Apple, which brand would you lean towards when buying a new phone?
