Xiaomi’s First Car SU7 Received Over 100,000 Reservations in One Day

On March 13th, Xiaomi officially announced that the Xiaomi SU7 is scheduled to be released on March 28th. Within a day of this announcement, over 100,000 people made reservations to visit the stores. Xiaomi officials were surprised by the overwhelming response to Xiaomi’s first car. Wang Hua, the General Manager of Xiaomi’s Public Relations Department, expressed on Weibo: “I feel anxious for our colleagues in the stores. This is a big test for them. Perhaps they have never experienced such a huge demand before.”

The concept of over 100,000 reservations may be hard to grasp. Wang Hua mentioned that in the first batch of stores, located in 29 cities with a total of 59 stores, each store is expected to receive an average of 1695 scheduled visitors for test-drives. This situation is indeed a significant challenge for the staff in the stores.

Recently, Lei Jun, founder, chairman, and CEO of Xiaomi, announced that the Xiaomi SU7 will be unveiled on March 28th. “Since the announcement of our car manufacturing plans on March 30, 2021, I have kept the ‘three-year commitment to debut in the first half of 2024’ in mind. On March 28, it is time for Xiaomi’s car to make its official debut,” Lei Jun stated on Weibo. Responding to inquiries about the intense competition in the industry and Xiaomi’s confidence in entering the market, Lei Jun assured, “We are confident because we are Xiaomi Automotive, and we are well-prepared.”

Before the launch event, Lei Jun revealed that he is currently occupied with three main tasks: establishing delivery centers, sales outlets, and service points in the first 29 cities, while also selecting sites for the second batch of cities; increasing factory production capacity quickly while ensuring quality to ensure timely deliveries after the launch; and preparing for the Xiaomi SU7 launch event.
