Xiaomi SU7: Latest Updates and Features
Xiaomi SU7 is set to be officially launched on March 28, with pre-booking test drives opening on March 25. Recently, Lei Jun announced that the number of people who reserved a spot at the store increased by over 100,000 within a day. Today, Xiaomi SU7 once again appeared in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s new car notification. There have been some changes in information related to wheel rims, active air deflectors, and batteries, which we will summarize in the following sections.
In the 377th notification issued on November 15, 2023, Xiaomi SU7 was first unveiled, declaring two models: a four-wheel-drive version with the model number BJ7000MBEVA1 and a rear-wheel-drive version with the model number BJ7000MBEVR2. The power of the front and rear motors in the four-wheel-drive version is 220kW and 275kW respectively, equipped with batteries from CATL. The rear-wheel-drive version has a motor power of 220kW, with batteries from CATL’s subsidiary, Farasis.
In the 379th batch of product change notifications issued on January 15, 2024, the four-wheel-drive version with the model number BJ7000MBEVA1 added 21-inch wheel rims and black body markings. The rear Xiaomi logo also adopted a smaller font, a change that Lei Jun later officially announced on Weibo. The rear-wheel-drive version with the model number BJ7000MBEVR2 also underwent similar changes in related markings.
In the 381st batch notification on March 13, 2024, a new model was introduced: BJ7000MBEVR3. This car is also a rear-wheel-drive version, equipped with CATL batteries. The vehicle declared a 20-inch wheel rim style and the option to install an active rear air deflector. In this batch, the four-wheel-drive version with the model number BJ7000MBEVA1 added a version without a rear air deflector. The maximum speed of the vehicle changed from 265 km/h to 265 km/h or 240 km/h, indicating the availability of different versions. The rear-wheel-drive version with the model number BJ7000MBEVR2 also underwent changes, offering the option of an active rear air deflector. It also shared the same 20-inch wheel rim style as the newly declared rear-wheel-drive version, BJ7000MBEVR3.
In summary, as shown in the table above, Xiaomi has declared a total of three SU7 models, with two rear-wheel-drive models equipped with batteries from different manufacturers, while the other declaration details remained mostly consistent (with slight weight differences).
The Xiaomi SU7 rear-wheel-drive version offers 19-inch and 20-inch wheel rims, while the four-wheel-drive version will come with 21-inch wheel rims. Concerning the rear air deflector, based on the final declaration results, it can be optionally installed in the two-drive versions, whereas the four-wheel-drive version will include a version without the rear air deflector.
The Xiaomi SU7 features coupe-style design, exuding a sporty appearance. With a drag coefficient of only Cd 0.195, the car boasts 17 air vents and 8 sets of air passages. Details like the body lines and rear-view mirrors are all designed for low aerodynamic resistance. The dimensions of the car are 4997mm in length, 1963mm in width, and 1440mm in height, with a 3000mm wheelbase. Currently, three colors are officially announced: Gulf Blue, Elegant Gray, and Olive Green.
Inside the Xiaomi SU7, a wrap-around design is implemented, featuring a sporty steering wheel in front of the driver. It also includes a rotating instrument panel and a 56-inch HUD. The center console is equipped with a 16.1-inch large screen with 3K resolution and integrates with Xiaomi’s “Smart Life” ecosystem.
The center screen in the Xiaomi SU7 supports physical key expansions and allows Xiaomi tablets to be mounted in the rear, offering over 30 smart car functions. It is also compatible with Apple iPads inside the car.
Regarding intelligent driving capabilities, the car will be equipped with two NVIDIA Orin chips, delivering a total computing power of 508TOPS. Xiaomi states that its intelligent driving system is self-developed, utilizing adaptive BEV focusing technology.
In terms of power, the dual-motor version of the Xiaomi SU7 has a maximum power of 673 horsepower, peak torque of 838 Nm, accelerates from 0-100km/h in 2.78 seconds, and is equipped with a 101kWh CATL ternary lithium battery, providing a CLTC range of 800km. The single-motor version has a maximum power of 299 horsepower, accelerates from 0-100km/h in 5.28 seconds, is equipped with a 73.6kWh Farasis lithium iron phosphate battery (with the addition of CATL battery in this declaration), providing a CLTC range of 668km.
Regarding the chassis, the car uses front double wishbone and rear five-link independent suspension with CDC shock absorbers and air springs. For the braking system, it features Brembo four-piston calipers, matched with Bosch DPB+ Bosch ESP 10.0, achieving a minimum braking distance of 33.3 meters from 100-0km/h.
