Huawei Rumored to Introduce Ultrasonic In-Screen Fingerprint Technology with P80 Series
With the widespread adoption of full-screen smartphones, most phones currently use ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint technology. However, due to most ultrasonic fingerprint recognition solutions being entangled with Qualcomm’s patents, it’s challenging for Huawei phones to incorporate this technology.
Recently, renowned digital blogger “Digital Chat Station” revealed that Huawei is developing its own ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint technology. Besides ultrasonic, Huawei has proprietary algorithm solutions for optical in-screen fingerprints and capacitive fingerprints, showcasing its impressive research and development capabilities. Previously, there were rumors circulating online about a patent titled “A kind of ultrasonic fingerprint recognition module, system, and electronic device,” indicating that Huawei is indeed working on ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint technology.
However, since the implementation of self-developed ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint technology takes time, this year’s P70 and Mate70 series phones might not feature this technology. It is likely that the forthcoming P80 and Mate80 series, expected to be released next year, will be the first to showcase Huawei’s self-developed ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint technology for commercial use.
