Apple Plans to Rename “Apple ID” to “Apple Account”
Tech expert Mark Gurman confirmed on March 18th that Apple is planning to rename “Apple ID” to “Apple Account” this year.
Not long ago, MacRumors also revealed that Apple plans to rename “Apple ID” to “Apple Account” as early as this year.
With the comprehensive brand reshaping scheduled for later this year, the term “Apple ID,” used for over 20 years, will gradually become history.
Today, Gurman stated that the new name “Apple Account” will be implemented later this year in significant software updates Apple is set to release, such as iOS 18 for iPhones and watchOS 11 for Apple Watches.
Previously, Apple referred to funds added to Apple IDs as “Apple Account Balance,” and internally, there is also an “Apple Account” team within the company.
The reasons behind Apple’s decision are not clear yet, but perhaps the change to “Apple Account” is more beneficial for brand communication purposes.
Apple is expected to release iOS 18 and other major software updates at the WWDC developer conference in June, where they might announce this renaming plan and commence widespread implementation starting in September.
