2024’s Top Phones: Huawei, Apple, Vivo, or OnePlus – Your Pick?

Is anyone else like me, who just can’t get enough of the smartphone industry? Despite the intense competition and the release of various “miracle devices” last year, the excitement seems to just keep on growing. And here we are in 2024, with no end in sight to this fierce competition. The good news is that manufacturers are constantly pushing the envelope, with groundbreaking new models always on the horizon, and some are even generating buzz months before their official release. As a veteran in the tech scene, let me take you through some of the most anticipated smartphones of 2024!

Huawei P70 Pro

Naturally, we can’t start without mentioning Huawei. The Huawei P70 series, initially expected to launch at the end of March, has been pushed to the end of next month. Despite the delay, the specs have been pretty much laid out, with the Pro version seeing significant improvements!

Leaks suggest the P70 series has overcome the bottleneck in key imaging components, with the Pro version’s main camera featuring a jointly developed OV50K sensor with OmniVision. It seems to also include a custom long-focus lens from OmniVision, rumored to outperform the mainstream OV64B, and will focus on AI imaging. It looks like we’re about to witness the imaging prowess of the P40 series once again.

iPhone 16 Pro

This year’s iPhone also seems to be feeling the heat and is ready to up its game significantly!

The iPhone 16 Pro model is expected to embrace the imaging flagship trend, maintaining its leading position in video recording while catching up in photography. The main and ultra-wide cameras are set to upgrade to a new 48MP super-sized sensor, with the main sensor likely being a custom-designed IMX903. Just the cost of this sensor is rumored to be astronomical, promising extremely effective low-light performance. It’s about time Apple’s night photography stood out. Additionally, the periscope lens is getting an update to 5X zoom, along with upgrades across all apertures.

Vivo X100 Ultra

This year, the “Blue Factory” is charging ahead with its high-end model, nicknamed “Thanos” and tentatively set to launch in May.

The X100 Ultra continues to focus on imaging, with a 50MP LYT900 main camera promising noticeable improvements in night photography. But the most anticipated feature has to be its industry-leading 200MP large sensor periscope telephoto lens. Though it might not reach a 100mm focal length, it’s said to significantly outperform the current X100 Pro, earning a “leagues ahead” rating from some bloggers. The telephoto capabilities alone seem worth holding out for.

Vivo X100 Ultra Camera

In other aspects, the processor will shift from the Dimensity 9300 to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and it will feature a Samsung E7 2K curved screen with a 1-120Hz adaptive LTPO refresh rate and 1440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming. Vivo’s satellite communications are finally expected to become commercially available, likely bringing some surprises in technology. Overall, this model is shaping up to be highly impressive.

OnePlus Ace 3V

And if we’re talking about the best value for money in 2024, the OnePlus Ace 3V, set to launch tomorrow night, seems to already have that title in the bag. Positioned as a challenge to the leading brands, it aims to be the first AI phone for young consumers, setting a high bar for competition.

OnePlus Ace 3V

The OnePlus Ace 3V will debut with the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 processor, with performance and efficiency closely related to the flagship Snapdragon 8G3. According to tests, this new chip maintains peak performance slightly below the Snapdragon 8G2 but offers a better efficiency ratio. For gaming, it comfortably handles demanding titles like Honor of Kings and Genshin Impact at almost full frames, making it a mobile gamer’s dream.

OnePlus Ace 3V Gaming

Other features include a 1.5K LTPO screen, 100W fast charging, a 5500mAh battery, and imaging powered by a 50MP Sony main camera. The inclusion of flagship-quality image algorithms and OPPO’s extensive AI model suggests high expectations for AI features like elimination and call summarization.
