On March 21, Xiaomi held a launch event in Beijing to introduce the latest generation of its Civi series smartphones – the Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro. At the Civi series launch event, Xiaomi Group’s President Lu Weibing took the stage for the first time and announced the global debut of the third-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s chip in the Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro.
Since its debut in September 2021, the Xiaomi Civi series has attracted many users, especially female consumers, with its slim design and excellent selfie capabilities. With the high-performance 8 series chip, the Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro offers significantly improved performance, making it a “trendsetting flagship” product.
Lu Weibing emphasized that the Civi series has evolved from being a “trendy device” to a “trendsetting flagship,” completing Xiaomi’s product lineup of “flagship across the board.”
In recent years, Xiaomi has been promoting a high-end strategy, creating several high-end popular products that have gained widespread attention both domestically and internationally. This achievement is attributed to Xiaomi’s approach of “starting with the end in mind and planning holistically” when developing products. Lu Weibing, President of Xiaomi Group said, “Xiaomi’s high-end strategy is entering a phase of comprehensive advancement. To achieve a flawless high-end user experience, we must continue to invest in performance, imaging, and AI technologies, constantly researching and iterating the latest algorithms tailored to user needs.”
Therefore, Xiaomi collaborated closely with Qualcomm for many years to co-develop and refine the third-generation flagship Snapdragon 8s chip. This collaboration involved in-depth technical cooperation in defining, developing, and validating the entire chain. Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8s series chips adopt the latest IP architecture of the Snapdragon 8 series, consistent with the third-generation Snapdragon 8, utilizing TSMC’s 4nm technology, efficient X4 super core, advanced image ISP architecture, comprehensive support for generative AI technology, and various AI models.
During Qualcomm’s chip launch event on March 18, Lu Weibing, President of Xiaomi Group, showed his support in person. At Xiaomi’s launch event, Qualcomm’s Vice President, Hou Mingjuan, was also present and provided detailed insights into the chip. Xiaomi stated that this chip was deeply customized based on Xiaomi’s Surge OS AI technology. Qualcomm mentioned that besides Xiaomi, upcoming models from Honor, iQOO, Realme, and Redmi will soon adopt this chip.
The Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro not only enhances its performance but also undergoes overall upgrades in imaging, screen, and ergonomics. Weighing only 179.3g and with a thickness of 7.45mm, it is the lightest and thinnest among its peers. For imaging, this is the first time the Xiaomi Civi series is equipped with the “Leica Summilux optical system,” incorporating the well-received Leica imaging technology used in other high-end Xiaomi models. Additionally, the phone features a metal frame, a new curved screen design, and a Surge T1 signal enhancement chip.
As for pricing, the Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro starts at 2999 yuan for the 12GB+256GB version, with the highest configuration version priced at 3599 yuan for the 16GB+512GB model. Pre-orders are open, with the official release scheduled for March 26. Xiaomi has also introduced three limited edition custom colors, priced the same as the highest configuration version, which will go on sale starting April 1.
