Chinese Manned Space Program Update: Shenzhou-18 Mission Set to Launch in Late April
On March 31st, IT Home reported that the Chinese manned space program released its monthly calendar. The plan is to launch the Shenzhou-18 manned spacecraft in late April to retrieve the crew of Shenzhou-17.
It is reported that the Shenzhou-18 mission will be carried out by the Long March-2F carrier rocket. This type of rocket is independently developed in China specifically for manned spaceflight, known for its high reliability and safety features, serving as the primary rocket for China’s manned space program. Currently, the astronaut crew has completed initial training and is undergoing mission-specific training. They will undergo rigorous medical examinations and psychological assessments before the launch to ensure they are in optimal physical and mental condition.
On October 26th last year at 11:14 in the morning, the Long March-2F Y17 carrier rocket carrying the Shenzhou-17 manned spacecraft was launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center. Since the Shenzhou-17 astronaut crew arrived at the space station, they have completed tasks such as crew rotation with the Shenzhou-16 crew, station platform maintenance, daily care, health support, extravehicular space suit inspection tests, Tianzhou-6 equipment inspections, extravehicular activities, robotic arm operation training, emergency drills, medical exercises, and system pressure emergency drills. They have been steadily advancing various space scientific experiments and test missions.
