Xiaomi SU7’s Popularity Surges Despite Smear Campaign
On April 1st, according to reports from Fast Technology, the Xiaomi SU7 has gained immense popularity since its launch, captivating significant attention and sparking numerous discussions. Every day, different topics related to the SU7 make it to the top of the trending searches, showcasing a massive following and engagement.
Recently, Xiaomi’s Vice President of Automotive, Li Xiaoshuang, took to Weibo to address a concerning issue. He mentioned that there have been individuals with malicious intentions manipulating public opinion under the guise of Xiaomi fans. Furthermore, there have been reports of individuals blatantly distributing smear campaigns against the Xiaomi SU7 to Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs).
Li Xiaoshuang expressed his disgust towards such behavior and emphasized that they have gathered preliminary evidence and are determined to hold those responsible accountable.
Just how popular is the Xiaomi SU7? Official data reveals that within 24 hours of its release, a staggering 88,898 units were pre-ordered, setting a new record for domestic new energy vehicles. Customers interested in viewing the car have been lining up in long queues, with some even waiting until the early hours of the morning due to the overwhelming demand.
However, not all feedback post-SU7 release has been positive. Concerns arose, especially after reports circulated online about the non-refundable nature of the pre-order deposits.
In response, Xiaomi released an official statement:
While there is a 7-day refund policy for pre-orders, customers also have the option to proactively lock in their configurations. Once the configuration is locked, indicating the order is finalized, the vehicle proceeds to the production phase, and modifications to the configuration are no longer possible, making the deposit non-refundable.
Up until noon on March 29th, our customer service received a total of 469 requests related to cancellations and configuration changes.
Throughout the Xiaomi Car app’s purchasing process, there are three distinct prompts regarding the non-refundable nature of the locked order, culminating in a direct pop-up warning upon finalizing the “locked configuration”. We hope for everyone’s understanding and urge caution before committing to the lock-in configuration.
