Nubia Launches new Budget Smartphone with Impressive Features
On April 9, 2024, according to several tech media reports, Nubia officially announced a new product launch at 14:00. The theme of this launch event is “AI For All,” where flagship models, small foldable phones, and budget-friendly devices will be unveiled. In particular, the entry-level smartphone called Nubia Xiaoniu is highlighted. The official introduction states that Nubia, known for its ability to produce flagship devices with craftsmanship, has created the Nubia Xiaoniu – a budget 5G phone with AI capabilities and a whopping 100 million pixels. Nubia emphasized during the event that Xiaoniu embodies flagship quality and aims to shine among budget phones, heralding the era of affordable AI smartphones.

Specifically, the newly launched Nubia Xiaoniu replicates the design of flagship phones perfectly in terms of layout and material. It visually resembles traditional cameras with a circular lens module on the back, featuring Nubia’s classic red ring and utilizing micron-level dual etching optical texture, adding depth to the lens module. On the front, Nubia Xiaoniu adopts a centered punch-hole display design.
The punch-hole display design aims to increase screen-to-body ratio, meaning the proportion of the screen to the front of the phone. This design, compared to notch and waterdrop displays, is closer to the concept of a full-screen display. The punch-hole design not only enhances the visual effect of the screen but also cleverly hides the front camera. Nowadays, many manufacturers such as Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO, Vivo, Samsung, and others have adopted the punch-hole display design in their new devices.

In terms of performance, Nubia Xiaoniu is equipped with the Ziguang Ziguang T760 processor. According to public information available on the Internet, the Ziguang T760 core board is based on a domestic 5G chip intelligent module. It is manufactured using Ziguang T760 process technology at TSMC’s 6nm process, offering excellent energy efficiency performance. This module features a mainstream 4+4 architecture with eight cores, including 4 2.2GHz A76 cores and 4 A55 cores. The memory unit can go up to 8GB RAM + 256GB ROM, running on Android 13 or higher operating system, ensuring powerful performance with rich functionalities.
Moreover, Nubia Xiaoniu smartphone, based on the flagship tune-up of the “Linxixi Performance Engine,” comes standard with 256GB large memory and UFS3.1 high-speed flash memory across the series. For battery life, Nubia Xiaoniu is equipped with a 5000mAh large battery, supported by AI intelligent power-saving algorithms, claiming to be the most durable in its price range. In my opinion, in the entry-level smartphone market, a large battery is a common feature and can meet the usage needs of the target users.
Furthermore, Nubia Xiaoniu smartphone introduces a new intelligent voice assistant based on AI models, supporting intelligent translation, chat conversations, knowledge queries, creative writing, and more, becoming a versatile assistant.

Regarding the camera setup, the Nubia Xiaoniu smartphone features the flagship Neovision Taishan AI imaging system. With advanced professional optical hardware boasting a hundred million pixels combined with flagship AI imaging tuning capabilities, along with new AI lossless zoom technology, the Nubia Xiaoniu phone covers four major focal lengths: 24mm, 35mm, 50mm, and 85mm, meeting the photography needs of smartphone users. In other words, Nubia aims for photography to be a key competitive advantage of this model compared to similar models from other manufacturers.
As for pricing, the phone is available in three configurations: 6+256GB for 799 yuan, 8+256GB for 999 yuan, and 12+256GB for 1199 yuan. Additionally, during this launch event, Nubia also unveiled the Nubia Z60 Ultra Photographer Edition and Nubia Flip. The Nubia Z60 Ultra Photographer Edition features a back cover with double three-dimensional etching process glass and a 6.8-inch AMOLED flexible display on the front. The Nubia Flip, as a foldable phone, is only 7.0mm thick in the unfolded state and features a droplet hinge, dual-track suspension design, providing a larger screen space when unfolded and a smoother surface when folded.
