Huawei Unveils New MateBook X Pro
Recently, @HuaweiTerminal announced that during the scheduled Huawei HarmonyOS Spring Communication Conference on April 11th, in addition to launching the new Smart Selection S7 new energy vehicle, they will also introduce a new Huawei MateBook laptop. The official pre-release poster for this new laptop has been released, confirming that the Huawei MateBook X Pro laptop is about to make its debut. Additionally, according to Huawei Terminal BG’s Chief Operating Officer @HuaweiHeGang and Huawei’s Executive Director, Terminal BG CEO, Chairman of Intelligent Automotive Solutions BU @YuChengdong, this new laptop is the thinnest and lightest Huawei laptop to date and the first to integrate Huawei’s PanGu model.
@HuaweiTerminal announced, “Lighter, stronger, AI-enhanced, the all-new #HuaweiMateBook# X Pro is here, stay tuned!” The core selling point of this new laptop, as seen on the pre-release poster, is its lightweight and strength, with emphasis on AI capabilities, suggesting an enhancement in AI performance. Notably, the laptop in the poster features a unique color scheme, indicating that the new Huawei MateBook X Pro is expected to introduce fresh color options.
Subsequently, @YuChengdong and @HuaweiHeGang provided additional information about this new laptop. @YuChengdong stated, “Our new flagship laptop #HuaweiMateBook# X Pro is about to be revealed. This product not only solves the challenge of balancing thinness and performance but also will be the first to support Huawei’s PanGu model, further enhancing the AI experience. Join us at 2:30 PM on April 11th!”
@HuaweiHeGang added, “The all-new #HuaweiMateBook# X Pro is about to debut, defined by its lightweight and strength. It is the thinnest and lightest Huawei laptop to date, and with the AI experience brought by Huawei’s PanGu model, it will understand you better. Join us at 2:30 PM on April 11th to witness its charm!” Notably, this laptop will be the first to offer the PanGu model experience.
Furthermore, according to @SinaTech, “#HuaweiPanGuModel applied to laptops for the first time #Huawei will release a new laptop on the 11th.” According to insiders, the new MateBook may support a new feature called “AI Summary.” Based on the image information, the new MateBook will be powered by an AI model capable of summarizing information and extracting keywords and summaries. With years of AI development, Huawei introduced the Huawei PanGu model 3.0 at last year’s HDC Developer Conference, and it is predicted that the AI model used in the new MateBook is the Huawei PanGu model.
With the support of the PanGu model, the new MateBook X Pro is expected to introduce numerous AI features, likely focusing on smart office scenarios, providing users with a completely different user experience. Previously, features such as multi-screen collaboration, AI summaries, AI subtitles, and AI voice on Huawei MateBook were considered essential for smart office, and now with PanGu model support on laptops, the enhanced smart experience and upgrades are highly anticipated.
From the official renderings, it’s evident that the machine comes with two Thunderbolt ports on the left side. Judging from the space occupied by the ports, the thickness of the new Huawei MateBook X Pro may be comparable to or even thinner than that of the 2021 Huawei MateBook X, which measured just 13.6mm thick and weighed 1.05kg. To achieve extreme lightness, it is speculated that the new MateBook X Pro may undergo further transformation based on the MateBook X, possibly reducing the base weight to below 1kg. Considering the mention of “strength” in the poster, the new Huawei MateBook X Pro is expected to feature active cooling to deliver stronger performance.
In addition to the weight of the laptop, the new Huawei MateBook X Pro is likely to introduce a new exterior material. It’s well-known that the choice of material for the laptop’s body is crucial in controlling weight. For instance, last year’s Huawei MateBook X Pro Microfiber Edition, while featuring active cooling and a 14.2-inch display, managed to weigh just 1.26kg, a reduction of 0.12kg compared to the 13th generation Core Edition. This weight reduction was largely attributed to the Microfiber Edition’s adoption of magnesium-aluminum alloy, which maintains a metallic feel while further reducing the laptop’s weight. Interested parties should stay tuned for tomorrow’s communication conference!
