Google Pixel 8a Leaks: What to Expect from Google’s Upcoming Smartphone

Multiple sources have indicated that Google is likely to unveil a brand-new Google Pixel 8a smartphone at the Google I/O developer conference scheduled for May this year.

As the release date approaches, there is a significant amount of information circulating about the Google Pixel 8a.

Now, the latest leak showcases the renderings of the Google Pixel 8a.

Looking at the renderings, the design of the Google Pixel 8a seems to continue the design language of the Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. The back of the device features a horizontal elongated area where two camera lenses and a flash module are placed. Additionally, the device sports smoothly curved edges, with the power and volume buttons located on the right side of the device.

On the front, the Google Pixel 8a is equipped with a flat screen, adopting a centered hole-punch design.

However, due to its lower price point, the screen bezels of the Google Pixel 8a appear slightly wider compared to the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro models.

In terms of color options, sources suggest that the Google Pixel 8a will be available in four colors: Mint, Porcelain, Obsidian, and Bay.

Regarding specifications, a previous report by IT Home mentioned that the Google Pixel 8a will feature a 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate.

For performance, the Google Pixel 8a will be powered by the Tensor G3 chip and will offer 128/256GB of internal storage.

In terms of imaging, the Google Pixel 8a will feature a 13MP front camera and a dual setup on the back consisting of a 64MP main camera (with OIS) and a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens.

For fast charging, the Google Pixel 8a will come with a 4500mAh battery capacity supporting 27W charging.

On the software front, the Google Pixel 8a will run on the Android 14 operating system.

As for the price, the Google Pixel 8a is expected to be priced between 500-550 US dollars (approximately 3625-3988 Chinese Yuan).

For reference, the previous generation Google Pixel 7a featured a 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate.

In terms of performance, the Google Pixel 7a was equipped with the Tensor G2 chip, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

For imaging, the Google Pixel 7a had a 64MP main rear camera and a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens, with OIS on the main sensor. The front camera was 13MP with support for 4K 30fps video recording.

Regarding fast charging, the Google Pixel 7a featured a built-in 4385mAh battery with support for 18W wired charging and 7.5W wireless charging.

Other features of the Google Pixel 7a included IP67 dust and water resistance, a weight of 193g, support for under-display fingerprint scanning, Bluetooth 5.3, and Wi-Fi 6E.

The Google Pixel 9 series is expected to introduce “super-sensitive touch” functionality that automatically adjusts the screen sensitivity based on the user’s environment.

In terms of performance, the Google Pixel 9 series may incorporate the yet-to-be-released Tensor G4 chip.

Furthermore, the Google Pixel 9 series is anticipated to adopt Qi2 charging technology, an upgraded standard that can increase wireless charging speeds to 15W and features magnetic alignment capabilities.
