Qualcomm to Launch 3 New Chips Targeting Entry and Mid-Level Market
In the fiercely competitive mobile chip market, Qualcomm, with its leading technology and innovative capabilities, continues to lead the industry’s development. Recently, it has been reported that Qualcomm is actively developing three new processors to meet the demands of the rapidly growing mid-range smartphone market.
These three chips are codenamed as SM4635, SM6650, and SM7635. According to Qualcomm’s naming convention, these processors are expected to be classified under the existing Snapdragon 4, 6, and 7 series. Although official details about these processors are currently limited, some leaks and rumors have provided clues regarding potential specifications and upcoming device integrations.
The first one is SM4635, also known as Snapdragon 4 Gen 3. Early rumors suggest that this processor will support up to 6GB of LPDDR4X memory and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Compared to the previous generation, this memory and storage combination will provide users with significant performance improvements. This will enable users to experience smoother and more efficient performance in daily use and even achieve smoother gaming experiences in less demanding games.
Next up is SM6650, belonging to the Snapdragon 6 series. Although details about this processor are scarce at the moment, considering its position in the Snapdragon 6 series, we can speculate that it will target the performance sweet spot in the mid-range market. It is expected to balance power efficiency and enhanced processing capabilities to meet users’ needs in daily use, photography, moderate gaming, and more.
Lastly, we have SM7635, the new member of the Snapdragon 7 series. This processor has recently attracted a lot of attention as it will debut in the Redmi Note 14 Pro. Speculations suggest that SM7635 may have lower raw performance compared to the recently announced Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3. However, this does not mean it lacks highlights. It is worth noting that official benchmarks have not been released yet, so we cannot dismiss SM7635’s potential in the Snapdragon 7 series based solely on speculation. In fact, considering its position in the 7 series, SM7635 still has the potential to offer greater improvements in performance, power consumption, and efficiency compared to its predecessors.
In conclusion, the launch of Qualcomm’s three new processors will undoubtedly further solidify its leading position in the mobile chip market. These processors will not only meet users’ demands for powerful and reasonably priced devices but also play a significant role in driving the development of the mid-range smartphone market. With the release and application of these new processors, we have every reason to believe that the future smartphone market will become more diverse, the competition fiercer, and users will enjoy even better performance and user experiences.
