Review of Huawei Pura70 Ultra and Honor X50 GT Smartphones
With the comprehensive sale of the Huawei Pura70 Ultra, reviews of this Huawei flagship have started to emerge. Testing has shown that it indeed brings many surprises, especially in terms of photography. The retractable lens not only looks cool but also performs excellently in capturing images and long-range macro photography. However, due to well-known reasons, its performance is rather disappointing. Despite being equipped with the new Kirin 9010 processor, its performance is not considered powerful.
One can sense this from the fact that it is named Kirin 9010 instead of Kirin 9100. Its specifications are on par with the previous Snapdragon 888. Although through frame insertion and Huawei’s optimization, its actual performance can reach a level close to the Snapdragon 8+, there is still a considerable gap compared to the current industry-leading Snapdragon 8Gen3. Moreover, the Huawei Pura70 Ultra, starting at 9999 yuan, is quite expensive. Flagships on the market equipped with Snapdragon 8+ processors are priced even below 2000 yuan, such as the Honor X50 GT.
The reason for highlighting this particular smartphone is twofold. Firstly, Honor used to be a sub-brand of Huawei. In order to protect Honor, Huawei sold it off, but has been assisting it continuously. For example, Honor not only adopted satellite communication functionality early on but also many of its smartphones resemble Huawei’s high-end flagships. The design on the back of this Honor X50 GT closely resembles the Huawei Mate60 series, which has significantly contributed to its sales. Secondly, this Honor smartphone offers great value for money and is one of the low-priced flagship representatives currently equipped with Snapdragon 8+.
Upon comparison, apart from the Huawei brand endorsement, in terms of performance at its current price point, a smartphone like the Honor X50 GT, although on par with the Huawei Pura70 Ultra in performance, started at a much lower price point. The 12GB+256GB version was priced at only 2199 yuan, and it has been some time since the release of this flagship. As a representative of high cost-performance ratio flagships under Honor, it needs to continue to maintain its high value. Currently, its price is even below 2000 yuan.
Some may think that the reason for the low price of this smartphone is solely due to the emphasis on the processor, with other features being poor. However, in reality, the other aspects of this smartphone are not lacking. Not only does it have a high-end 1.5K curved screen, but also a 5800mAh large battery and a 100-megapixel ultra-clear camera. The top-of-the-line version features 16GB+1TB specifications and is notably durable, adopting Honor’s Tai Chi buffering structure, making it resistant to falls from any angle, ensuring a well-rounded and cost-effective device.
Currently, the price of this Honor flagship has indeed dropped further. The 12GB+256GB standard version is now even selling for as low as 1829 yuan, while the 16GB+1TB version is priced around 2500 yuan. Therefore, for consumers who value performance or cost-effectiveness, there is a certain regret with Huawei’s new flagship. However, this regret is understandable. This is currently the best level that Huawei can achieve. Fortunately, Huawei’s protection of Honor was also meant to provide a diverse range of choices for consumers, allowing them to make purchases based on their own needs.
