Huawei Returns to the Top Spot in China’s Smartphone Market in Early 2024

According to the latest data from Counterpoint’s China Smartphone Weekly Sales Model, Huawei has reclaimed the top position in smartphone sales in the Chinese market in the first two weeks of 2024. Huawei Tops China Sales Early 2024

The report notes that the success of Huawei’s recent Mate 60 series, powered by its self-developed Kirin 9000S chip, has been a key driver. Additionally, its strong brand loyalty and the successful launch of HarmonyOS operating system have also been contributing factors.

In 2023, the high-end smartphone market in China grew by 27%. Apple maintained its market leader position with excellent performance in the first half of 2023. However, from the third quarter of 2023, Apple’s market share started to be eroded by Huawei and other Chinese brands, with Chinese brands expected to continue their momentum in the high-end market.

Despite Huawei’s strong comeback, the market competition remains fierce. Chinese brands like Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo, among others, are constantly introducing new models in the high-end market, challenging international giants like Apple and Samsung.
