Top Global Phones: Apple 1st, Huawei 3rd, Xiaomi 4th

Recently, the market research firm Counterpoint Research revealed its latest analysis report on the sales of high-end smartphones. The report indicates that the demand for premium smartphones is on the rise, and it also updates the rankings for the top brands in this segment: Apple in the lead, followed by Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi, and OPPO in fifth place.

According to the report, since 2016, the market share for high-end smartphones has shown a steady increase, rising from 6% in 2016 to 24% in 2023. As the smartphone industry evolves, the rankings among premium brands have also changed. For instance, both Samsung and Xiaomi have seen a 1% rise in their share of the high-end market. With Huawei’s return to using its in-house chips, it has regained its position as the third largest player in the global market. It’s foreseeable that starting this year, Huawei will strive to improve further, potentially climbing back to the second spot or even reclaiming the top position.

High-end smartphones often represent the strength of a brand as they showcase innovation, intelligence, camera quality, and performance — features that justify their premium pricing. If they weren’t exceptional, they wouldn’t sell. For example, the demand for the Huawei Mate 60 Pro continues to exceed supply, mainly due to its innovative features. So, which brand will dominate the high-end market this year? Let’s wait and see!
