Chinese Mobile Market Rankings for 2023

Recently, the market research agency Counterpoint released the 2023 ranking of the mobile phone market in China. According to the list, vivo has maintained its position as the top-selling domestic brand for three consecutive years. In addition, it secured the overall second position this year, with the top domestic brand being claimed by Apple. Undoubtedly, the iPhone is currently extremely popular in the market.

Over the years, vivo has been focusing on product development and research. This year, the launch of the vivo X100 series has been highly successful, with the vivo X100 Pro standing out in terms of photography and battery life. It is indeed a leader among the high-end domestic series. The incorporation of “Blue Technology,” such as the Blue Heart large model, Blue Crystal chip technology stack, Blue Ocean battery life system, and Blue River operating system, has provided a significant boost to their smartphones.

The X series has been receiving exceptional reviews and sales over the past few years, while the S series focuses on stylish selfies and has also achieved considerable sales. The iQOO series targets online and gaming audiences, attracting a large user base across various product lines.

2024 Chinese Mobile Market Rankings

Apple secured the top spot, with the iPhone 15, iPhone 14, and even iPhone 13 series making it into the top ten during the Double Eleven sales festival. Apple in the Chinese market ensures significant sales with promotional measures, boasting a strong product lineup, and holding a 50% share in the global smartphone market. It appears that there is still significant potential for growth in the flagship phones produced domestically.

OPPO, ranking third, has been making strides in various price segments with its Find series, Reno series, and the OnePlus realme lineup. Honor, ranking fourth, is making remarkable progress in the offline market and is highly anticipated. Xiaomi claimed the fifth spot. While it had impressive product lines like the Xiaomi 14 series and the Redmi K70 series in the fourth quarter of 2023, overall performance lagged in the three quarters, resulting in the fifth position. As of January 2024, Xiaomi’s performance seems to be average. With major manufacturers launching flagship products continuously and Huawei making a comeback, the competition is expected to intensify.
