Huawei Takes the Lead in China’s Foldable Smartphone Market in 2023
On February 20, according to a report from the market research firm IDC, it is projected that the total shipments of foldable smartphones in China will reach approximately 7.07 million units in the year 2023, marking a remarkable 114.5% year-on-year growth.
The data indicates that Huawei clinched the top spot in the domestic foldable smartphone market in 2023, capturing a market share of 37.4% and significantly outperforming other mobile phone manufacturers.
A major contributor to Huawei’s success is the Huawei Mate X5. Since its launch, the device has consistently been in high demand, often being sold out and commanding premium prices, making it a best-selling foldable smartphone of the year.
During the pre-sale of Huawei Mate X5, Huawei’s Executive Director and CEO of the Consumer Business Group, Richard Yu, remarked, “For the ultimate foldable smartphone, look no further than Huawei!”
It is known that the Huawei Mate X5 is equipped with the Kirin 9000S chipset, which is the same chip used in the Huawei Mate 60 series. Evidently, the resurgence of the Kirin chipset is one of the reasons behind the overwhelming demand for the Mate X5.
Furthermore, the Huawei Mate X5 premiered the Xuanwu toughened Kunlun glass, obtaining the world’s first Swiss SGS gold standard five-star anti-scratch and drop-resistant certification, with the external screen’s scratch resistance enhanced by 300% and drop resistance improved by 100%.
