NVIDIA Names Huawei as Key Rival

Nvidia Identifies Huawei as a Key Competitor in Various Fields, Including AI Chips

On February 23, according to reports from foreign media, Nvidia has, for the first time, officially recognized Huawei as a major competitor in areas such as artificial intelligence chips.

In the submitted formal document to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Nvidia detailed a list of competitors in various fields such as software and hardware providers, and major cloud services, with multiple mentions of Huawei.

Nvidia stated that the Chinese technology company Huawei competes with them in AI chip technology because Huawei also supplies GPU accelerators, central processors, and network components to the market.

Furthermore, Nvidia positioned Huawei as a cloud service company that can design its hardware and software to enhance artificial intelligence computing, making it one of the main competitors.

Apart from Huawei, Nvidia listed other competitors such as Intel, AMD, Broadcom, Qualcomm, as well as major cloud service companies like Amazon and Microsoft.

At the end of last year, during a visit to Singapore, Nvidia’s founder and CEO, Jensen Huang, mentioned that in the competition to produce the best AI chips, Huawei is one of Nvidia’s “very strong” competitors.
