Huawei P70 Series Launch Revealed!

According to foreign media reports, the release date of the Huawei P70 series has been nearly confirmed and is most likely set for March 26th, marking its first major flagship launch of the year. The series will see comprehensive upgrades in imaging, chipset, and satellite communication, enhancing its competitiveness based on last year’s Huawei Mate60 model.

Huawei P70 Series Launch

The leaks suggest that the Huawei P70 series will feature a one-inch main camera lens. The standard version will use the IMX989 sensor, while the high-end version will debut a domestically produced sensor by HuaWei. This marks Huawei’s first use of a one-inch lens, promising unprecedented light intake improvements. Additionally, it will be equipped with a new variable aperture technology, offering better performance compared to competitors within the same size range.

As per the National Intellectual Property Office information, Huawei previously applied for a patent featuring a six-blade variable aperture design. This new design reduces assembly tolerances compared to the previous generation, minimizing lens movement issues that could affect image quality. This variable aperture solution is expected to be the best in the industry, enhancing light intake for improved photography results while reducing everyday shake and eliminating any “clicking” sounds.

In terms of performance, it is almost certain that the Huawei P70 series will be powered by the Kirin 9000S chipset, supporting 5G networks and marking Huawei’s return to self-developed chip platforms after the P40 series. Insiders reveal that the production of Kirin chips is on track, with future Huawei Mate, P, and nova series all set to adopt self-developed chips. Qualcomm Snapdragon flagship processors are expected to be phased out, with only the Enjoy series and low-end nova models retaining them before eventually transitioning to Huawei’s own chips.

Huawei P70 Series Performance

From August last year to the present, Huawei has released three self-developed chips: Kirin 8000, Kirin 9000S, and Kirin 9000SL. There is a possibility of a new processor for the Huawei P70 series. However, considering Huawei’s overall product strategy, the next major update is expected with the global launch of the Mate70 series. The Huawei P70 series may only receive minor upgrades since its key selling point is focused more on imaging than performance.

Lastly, in terms of satellite communication technology, the Huawei Mate50 series globally introduced the BeiDou satellite one-way short message feature, while the Huawei P60 series introduced the BeiDou satellite two-way messaging service. The Mate60 series debuted the dual-way satellite change technology. Insiders suggest that the Huawei P70 series will further enhance satellite communication practicality based on these features, although specific upgrades are still unclear.

With just a month left until the rumored release date of the Huawei P70 series, more reliable information is expected to surface, giving us a glimpse of this flagship phone’s charm in advance. Analysts predict a significant surge in Huawei’s sales driven by high-end flagship models, with the company already reclaiming a spot in the top five domestic sales in the last quarter of the previous year. It is anticipated that Huawei will secure at least a top-three position this year, with sales estimated to range between 60 to 100 million units.
