Redmi mislabels Honor 100 Pro specs; Honor: No apology needed

On April 11, according to reports from Zijin Finance, during the launch event of Redmi’s new product, Turbo 3, on the 10th, Xiaomi mistakenly labeled the specifications of the Honor 100 Pro. Some netizens suggested that Xiaomi should apologize three times.

However, this time, Honor showed great generosity. The product manager of Honor, @Snapdragon_XL, stated on Weibo that friends had informed him that it would be sufficient for the competitor to apologize three times. He expressed that three apologies were unnecessary.

Honor’s CMO, Jiang Hairong, retweeted the Weibo post, stating that many fake announcements urging competitors to apologize were fabricated. Furthermore, he emphasized that such a trivial matter does not necessarily warrant a sincere apology.

Redmi has always been known as the “slaughterer” in the smartphone market, with its multiple product lines winning on the basis of cost-effectiveness. At the Xiaomi launch event, the Redmi Turbo 3 was announced starting at 1999 yuan, with pre-sales already underway and sales beginning at 10 a.m. on April 15.

On the evening of April 8, during the Smart Me L6 model launch event, Smart Me Motors conducted several “face-to-face” comparisons with Xiaomi’s SU7. One of the parameter comparison charts showed that the Xiaomi SU7 Max featured a “front IGBT + rear SiC” motor, a mislabeled parameter that caused considerable dissatisfaction from Xiaomi Motors.

After the event, Smart Me’s co-CEO, Liu Tao, issued an apology to Xiaomi Motors, stating that there was an error in one piece of information during the product research, leading to misinformation at the launch event.

However, Xiaomi demanded three apologies from Smart Me Motors. In the early hours of April 9, Smart Me Motors issued an apology letter, stating that during the just-concluded Smart Me L6 Super Smart Sedan launch event, due to a team oversight in content review, there was an error in the labeling of a key parameter. Smart Me Motors clarified that both the front and rear motors of the Xiaomi SU7 Max adopt SiC silicon carbide modules, consistent with the technology used in Smart Me L6, and both adhere to industry-leading technical standards.
