5-Min Charge, 10-Hr Talk, OPPO K12 with rapid charging & long battery life

On April 22nd, OPPO held a media briefing titled “Changing a Bit of the World in Charging,” commemorating a decade of its fast charging technology. OPPO’s fast charging scientist, Zhang Jialiang, reviewed the ten-year journey of OPPO pioneering and leading the development of fast charging. He also shared his insights on the future trends in fast charging technology. During the event, Zhang Jialiang announced that the upcoming OPPO product, OPPO K12, will feature a long-lasting 100W SuperVOOC fast charging and a 5500mAh large battery. This advancement will allow a 5-minute charge for 10 hours of talk time, marking the beginning of an era where 100W fast charging and ultra-long battery life become mainstream.

In 2014, OPPO introduced the first-generation VOOC fast charging on the Find 7. Over the past decade, from the 22.5W VOOC fast charging to the current commercially available 240W SUPERVOOC ultra-fast charging, OPPO has continuously advanced its fast charging technology. What used to be a privilege for a few high-end flagship users has now become a daily convenience for over 300 million people experiencing the ease brought by OPPO’s fast charging. Zhang Jialiang mentioned, “OPPO’s fast charging has altered users’ charging habits, relieved many from charging anxiety, and accelerated the widespread adoption of fast charging in the industry, turning fast charging into a norm over the past decade.”

Currently, OPPO leads the global mobile industry in fast charging with over 3700 patent applications, ranking first. Almost every two valid authorized patents related to fast charging include OPPO. Additionally, OPPO has granted fast charging patent licenses to over 40+ eco-partner brands and actively participated in devising standards like UFCS Fusion for fast charging, collaborating with industry partners to offer more users convenient fast charging services. The continuous technological investment led OPPO’s fast charging technology to be honored with a national-level Science and Technology Silver Medal.

Zhang Jialiang stated that future fast charging technologies will advance through material, system, and software enhancements and breakthroughs, acknowledging that for users, the marginal benefits of charging efficiency are gradually diminishing. Users not only seek rapid charging but also desire longer-lasting battery performance in their phones.

During the briefing, Zhang Jialiang announced that the upcoming OPPO K12 will be OPPO’s best smartphone in terms of battery life. It will feature a long-lasting 100W SuperVOOC fast charging and a 5500mAh large battery, enabling a 5-minute charge for 10 hours of talk time. According to DOU’s battery life test, the OPPO K12 boasts an impressive battery life of up to 1.88 days, 8.76 hours of gameplay time, and a standby time of up to 17.28 days.

Ten years ago, to resolve the contradictions between users’ increasing power usage demands, limited body space, and restricted battery capacity, OPPO chose a “more challenging yet more exquisite” path, initiating the era of fast charging. Now, with the OPPO K12, OPPO will address the user pain points of mid-range phone users unable to balance fast charging and battery life. By promoting “100W fast charging” + “ultra-long battery life,” OPPO aims to enable more individuals to genuinely enjoy flagship-level experiences of both fast charging and extended battery life.
