The upcoming flagship processors will feature ARM’s standardized architecture, the Cortex-X5, as a high-performance core, significantly impacting the overall system-on-chip (SoC) performance. Recently, the benchmark scores of the Cortex-X5 have been revealed using Geekbench 6 software. Specifically, its multi-core score reached 5061, while the single-core score stood at 1606.

The Cortex-X5 large core will make its debut in MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400, with leaks suggesting its instruction per clock (IPC) performance surpassing that of the A17 Pro in the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The first brand to feature the Dimensity 9400 is expected to be vivo, most likely within its X series, with the specific product potentially hitting the market in the fourth quarter of this year.

Apart from the improved IPC, the Cortex-X5 also supports new instruction sets, namely the Armv9-A extension instruction set and the SVE2 vector extension instruction set, exhibiting decent energy efficiency when handling specific tasks. As anticipated, the Dimensity 9400 equipped with the Cortex-X5 will likely offer the strongest performance within the Android ecosystem.
