MSI to Unveil Handheld at CES 2024

MSI Set to Unveil Its Own Handheld Console at CES 2024: Teaser Video Released

In 2023, handheld gaming has soared in popularity across the gaming industry. With the Nintendo Switch surpassing sales of 132 million units and Valve launching the Steam Deck OLED, this niche is rapidly evolving and changing.

Last year, both ASUS and Lenovo entered the fray with their Windows-based gaming handhelds. And now, as we enter 2024, MSI (Micro-Star International) is heating up the market by teasing their brand-new handheld gaming device.

A teaser video posted on Instagram by MSI showcases their handheld console. Though the clip is short and doesn’t reveal much, it does give us a glimpse of some exciting design features.

Drawing a parallel to the ASUS ROG Ally, MSI’s handheld seems to feature RGB backlit joysticks and a stylish body design. However, the internal hardware specifics remain a mystery.

Based on the current specs of leading handhelds, we can anticipate that the new device would come equipped with an RDNA 3 GPU and either a Zen 3 or Zen 4 CPU. A high-refresh-rate OLED display would also be appealing, though MSI might skip this to cut costs.

The teaser confirms that more information will be revealed at CES 2024 on January 9th. In addition to MSI, NVIDIA and AMD will also be present, with NVIDIA set to spotlight their GeForce RTX 40 Super series graphics cards, and MSI is expected to release their own RTX 40 Super series cards.
