MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300 and 9200 Processors Receive Wi-Fi 7 Certification
On January 17th, IT House reported that MediaTek announced through its official social media that their Dimensity 9300 and 9200 processors have received Wi-Fi 7 certification from the Wi-Fi Alliance.
According to the announcement, smartphones from the vivo X series equipped with Dimensity 9300 or 9200, as well as the iQOO Neo9 Pro and OPPO Find X7 smartphones featuring Dimensity 9300, will gradually roll out Wi-Fi 7 capabilities. The Dimensity 9300 is expected to achieve theoretical peak speeds of 6.5Gbps under Wi-Fi 7, and when combined with MediaTek’s Wi-Fi 7 enhancement technology, it can increase indoor coverage by 4.5 meters.
Starting from early this month, the Wi-Fi Alliance has officially introduced the Wi-Fi 7 certification standard and begun certifying Wi-Fi 7 devices to ensure they meet the requirements and work seamlessly.
IT House previously reported that MediaTek unveiled its first batch of products to receive complete Wi-Fi 7 certification at CES 2024. MediaTek anticipates the launch of numerous Wi-Fi 7 devices this year, with more devices to be announced after receiving certification.
These products utilize the Filogic chip and have acquired Wi-Fi 7 certification, suitable for gateways, mesh routers, TVs, streaming devices, smartphones, tablets, and laptops among others.
Kevin Robinson, CEO of the Wi-Fi Alliance, described Wi-Fi 7 as the “first standard designed from the ground up for the 6GHz band,” which offers wider and faster wireless spectrum. Previously, Wi-Fi 6E supported this frequency band. Compared to the Wi-Fi 5, 6, and 6E standards, Wi-Fi 7’s channel bandwidth has doubled from 160MHz to 320MHz, resulting in a theoretical transmission rate of around 46Gbps.
