Xiaomi’s New Snapdragon 8 Series SoC Revealed: Outpaces 8 Gen2

New Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Series SoC to Debut in the First Half of This Year

Fast Technology reported on January 19th that according to the digital blogger at the Idle Talk Station, a new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 series SoC will debut in the first half of this year.

The SoC, codenamed SM8635, adopts the same architecture as the Snapdragon 8 Gen3 (codenamed SM8650) and has a higher AnTuTu benchmark score than the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 (codenamed SM8550).

The AnTuTu benchmark score of the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 has been known to exceed 1.7 million points, indicating that the SM8635’s AnTuTu score will also surpass 1.7 million points.

In terms of performance, the Qualcomm SM8635 is positioned as a “youth edition” of the Snapdragon 8 Gen3. It is expected that the CPU frequency will be slightly lower, but the performance will still be at a flagship level.

It’s worth noting that the Idle Talk Station suggested that Redmi will use this SoC, and the first model to feature it should be the Redmi Note 13 Turbo.

Last year, Redmi launched the first model equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen2 chip, which is a downclocked version of the Snapdragon 8+. This chip is from the same lineage and shares the same origin as the Snapdragon 8+.

With the SM8635 processor integrated in the Redmi Note 13 Turbo, its performance in the same category will be unrivaled.
