Samsung Launches 990 EVO SSD in China
Samsung has previously launched the new 990 EVO solid-state drive (SSD) overseas, featuring a new design that provides enhanced performance and lower power consumption. The SSD has now been officially released in China, with the 1TB version priced at 679 yuan and the 2TB version at 1179 yuan.
The 990 EVO supports both PCle 4.0 x4 and PCle 5.0 x2 interfaces, meeting the demands of today’s computers with PCle 4.0 M.2 slots. It also offers excellent compatibility and thermal control for upcoming applications with PCle 5.0 interfaces. The 990 EVO is available in two capacities: 1TB and 2TB. Compared to Samsung’s earlier 970 EVO Plus, the 990 EVO boasts a 43% performance boost. Its sequential read speed reaches up to 5,000 MB/s and write speed up to 4,200 MB/s. The random read and write speeds are at 700K IOPS and 800K IOPS respectively. Through Host Memory Buffer (HMB) technology, even with a non-cache design, the SSD can optimize performance, offering noticeably faster game loading and quicker access to large files.
Furthermore, compared to the 970 EVO Plus, the 990 EVO demonstrates a 70% improvement in power efficiency, allowing users to extend their computer usage time more confidently and securely. It also supports a “modern standby” function, keeping users connected to the internet and able to receive notifications even in low power consumption states. The heat spreader label on the 990 EVO contributes to cooling the NAND chips. Samsung’s advanced heat control algorithm combined with dynamic guard armor provides stable and reliable performance.
Samsung officials stated that the new 990 EVO SSD is the latest product in the company’s consumer-grade SSD series, offering powerful performance and higher efficiency.
