On February 26th, during the highly anticipated 2024 Mobile World Congress (MWC), the global leading semiconductor company Qualcomm announced the launch of its latest generation 5G modem to antenna solution – the Snapdragon X80 5G modem and RF system. This innovative platform seamlessly integrates Artificial Intelligence (AI) with unparalleled spectrum flexibility, energy efficiency, and performance, marking another significant breakthrough for Qualcomm in the field of 5G technology.
According to Qualcomm, the Snapdragon X80 is the most advanced modem-to-antenna platform introduced to date. It incorporates a dedicated 5G AI processor and a 5G Advanced-ready architecture, offering users a more robust and intelligent 5G connectivity experience. The introduction of this innovative platform will further drive the widespread adoption of 5G technology in areas such as smartphones, and fixed wireless access client devices (CPE).
Notably, the Snapdragon X80 has achieved several global milestones. Firstly, it is the first 5G modem to integrate NB-NTN satellite communication capabilities, providing users with broader network coverage and more stable communication connections. Secondly, the Snapdragon X80 supports 6Rx technology for smartphones, enhancing reception performance and signal stability. Additionally, it introduces the first downlink six-carrier aggregation technology, delivering faster download speeds and a smoother network experience for users.
In addition to the innovative technologies mentioned above, the Snapdragon X80 also introduces AI-enabled millimeter wave extension communication support for fixed wireless access client devices (CPE).
