Qualcomm to Release Snapdragon 8S Gen3 Platform with Xiaomi Possibly Being the First to Use It

On February 28th, according to the tech blogger at Digital Chat Station, Qualcomm is set to launch the Snapdragon 8S Gen3 platform with the codename SM8635.

This chipset boasts flagship-level 5G performance, with confirmed partners including Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo, Honor, Redmi, and realme, among others.

Xiaomi is likely to integrate this chipset into the Civi 4 series, marking the first time Xiaomi utilizes the Snapdragon 8 series platform in the Civi lineup.

Reportedly, the Snapdragon 8S Gen3 shares the same lineage as the Snapdragon 8 Gen3, with a CPU configuration of 13.01GHz X4 + 42.61GHz A720 + 3*1.84GHz A520 and an Adreno 735 GPU.

Compared to the 3.3GHz CPU frequency of the Snapdragon 8 Gen3, the Snapdragon 8S Gen3’s CPU frequency is slightly lower, potentially contributing to better power efficiency.

Moreover, built on the 4nm process by TSMC, the Snapdragon 8S Gen3 offers a performance level between the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 and Gen3, achieving a benchmark score of over 1.7 million on AnTuTu.

This chipset is scheduled for a March debut, with related devices expected to be released gradually throughout the month. Exciting times ahead!
