iPadOS 18 Upgrade List Revealed

iPadOS 18 to Drop Support for A10 Chip-powered iPads

Fast Technology reported on February 28th that this year’s upcoming iPadOS 18 will no longer support iPad devices equipped with A10 series chips.

Currently, the devices powered by A10X Fusion chips are the first-generation 10.5-inch iPad Pro and the second-generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro released in 2017.

The iPads with A10 Fusion chips are the sixth and seventh-generation iPads, which means these devices will not be compatible with the iPadOS 18 system.

In summary, the specific iPad models that will be able to upgrade to iPadOS 18 are as follows:

  • iPad Pro: Models from 2018 onwards;
  • iPad Air: Models from 2019 onwards;
  • iPad mini: Models from 2019 onwards;
  • iPad: Models from 2020 onwards.

As per tradition, Apple is expected to unveil the iPadOS 18 system at WWDC in June and release the official update for older models in September.

According to leaks, the new iPadOS 18 will integrate generative AI, and Siri, the intelligent voice assistant, is expected to undergo significant enhancements.
