Xiaomi 15 Series Launch: Snapdragon 8 Gen4, Unbeatable Performance!

Exciting Times Ahead for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen4 Chipset

After the disappointing performance of the flagship chips Snapdragon 888 and Snapdragon 8 Gen1, Qualcomm managed to redeem itself with the subsequent Snapdragon 8 Gen2. The Snapdragon 8 Gen3, launched in November last year, received positive reviews for its significant performance improvements and decent power efficiency. However, it is evident that the Snapdragon 8 Gen3 did not bring about a substantial change in terms of technology and architecture.

This is why tech enthusiasts have been advised to wait patiently and hold off for the arrival of the Snapdragon 8 Gen4. There have been rumors indicating that the Snapdragon 8 Gen3 served as a transitional product, and the real game-changer from Qualcomm would be the Snapdragon 8 Gen4. This new chipset is set to bring a huge leap in performance.

Snapdragon 8 Gen4 Launch

Qualcomm officials are also finding it difficult to contain their excitement for the launch of the Snapdragon 8 Gen4. During the recent MWC 2024 event, Qualcomm executives announced that they would host a Qualcomm Technology Summit in October this year, where they will officially unveil the Snapdragon 8 Gen4. They even mentioned, “I know you can’t wait any longer,” which is a rare sight as Qualcomm usually confirms such summits shortly before the event. The early announcement this year indicates that the Snapdragon 8 Gen4 has shown promising test results and is now in the final stages of development. According to reliable sources, the Snapdragon 8 Gen4 will be built using TSMC’s second-generation 3nm process.

Snapdragon 8 Gen4 Features

Moreover, the Snapdragon 8 Gen4 will introduce a significant change by abandoning the Arm reference design in favor of their in-house Oryon core. It will include 2 Nuvia Phoenix performance cores and 6 Nuvia Phoenix M cores, with the CPU frequency of the big core reaching a staggering 4GHz. Additionally, it will integrate the Adreno 800 series GPU, supporting third-generation ray tracing, enhanced resolution, and special effects rendering.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen4 will also feature a new integrated modem, supporting 5.5G networks, satellite communication solutions, a fully hardware-based local AI mega-model, a camera capable of 400 million pixels, 8K screen resolution, and native support for PC-grade 3A game ports, taking the mobile gaming experience to a whole new level.

Snapdragon 8 Gen4 Impact

With such impressive features, being the first to release a device with the Snapdragon 8 Gen4 chipset undoubtedly provides a significant advantage and is expected to attract a wave of new users looking to upgrade their devices. According to the supply chain, Xiaomi is most likely to secure the first release, with the initial device being part of the Xiaomi 15 series. The launch is anticipated to take place in October, marking Xiaomi’s most powerful numerical series to date. While information about the Xiaomi 15 series is currently limited, it is expected to present both a standard and a pro model.
