Xiaomi Group Officially Announces Xiaomi Car Launch Event on March 28
On March 12, Xiaomi Group officially announced that the launch event for Xiaomi Cars is scheduled for March 28. This signifies the upcoming official debut of Xiaomi’s first smart car, the Xiaomi SU7.
Apart from revealing the launch event date, Xiaomi also unveiled detailed information about Xiaomi car stores for the first time. The initial batch of Xiaomi car stores will cover 29 cities nationwide, totaling 59 stores. Starting today, users across the country can register information through the official Xiaomi Car mini-program to book appointments for the first batch of in-store experience activities.
The Xiaomi SU7 is a nearly 5-meter long car with a 3-meter wheelbase, slightly larger than the Camry, making it one of the most anticipated mid-sized electric cars in the first half of this year.
In terms of power, the SU7 will offer both two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive versions. The two-wheel drive has a maximum power of 220kW, while the four-wheel drive has 220kW + 275kW. The Max version will be equipped with a 101kWh large battery, with a CLTC range of 800km. The standard version will come with a 73.6kWh battery, providing a range of 668km. The batteries are sourced from BYD and CATL, offering two types – ternary lithium and lithium iron phosphate. The new car is based on an 800V architecture, with the official claim that it only takes 20 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%.
The SU7 is based on Xiaomi’s “Modena” architecture, incorporating five key technologies, including a self-developed electric motor with 27200rpm, self-developed CTB battery body integration technology, a three-stage floor formed by a 9100t die-casting machine, fully self-developed intelligent driving technology stack, and the powerful OS cockpit.
In the face of the current fiercely competitive industry environment, Lei Jun remarked that they have “fully prepared in all aspects.” Xiaomi Cars’ journey from 0 to 1 is not entirely the same as that of Xiaomi phones; Xiaomi Cars need to offer something different, focusing on genuine smart technology to meet people’s true expectations for Xiaomi and new energy vehicles.
