Apple Rumored Not to Launch 12.9-inch iPad Air This Year

According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple was planning to introduce a second 12.9-inch version of the iPad Air alongside the traditional 10.9-inch model last year. However, information obtained by CNMO suggests that Apple may only release an iPad Air with a 10.9-inch LCD screen this year.

Reports from foreign media outlets have verified other rumors surrounding the iPad Air (2024), such as a horizontal front-facing camera, providing a laptop-like feel when taking selfies with the device. Ironically, the much-talked-about 12.9-inch iPad Air may not come as expected.

Nevertheless, foreign media sources insist that current evidence suggests Apple will release a larger-screen iPad Air this year.

Firstly, Ming-Chi Kuo has a strong track record in leaking Apple hardware information. Secondly, it would make sense for Apple to create a 12.9-inch iPad Air, as it would allow users who desire a larger tablet but cannot afford the top-tier iPad Pro to stay within the Apple ecosystem. Considering that the iPad Pro may feature expensive OLED panels this year for the first time, now is the best time for Apple to offer 10.9-inch and 12.9-inch LCD panels for the iPad Air.

Earlier reports suggested that Apple’s new tablets would be launched on March 26th, but Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman indicated that the iPad Pro (2024) series and iPad Air (2024) series are likely to be released in late April.
