12.9″ iPad Air to Get Mini LED?

Most market analysts believe that Apple will equip the latest iPad Pro models with OLED displays this year. However, Ross Young, the CEO of DSCC, has further indicated that the rumored 12.9-inch iPad Air is expected to be released in May. Moreover, the 12.9-inch iPad Air is said to feature a Mini LED display, resembling the one used in the previous 12.9-inch iPad Pro, while the current 10.9-inch iPad Air utilizes an LCD panel.

According to Young, the 12.9-inch iPad Air will make use of the leftover Mini LED materials from the previous 12.9-inch iPad Pro, offering the advantage of lower power consumption for the iPad Air.

Apple currently does not have a 10.9-inch Mini LED display. This could mean that the smaller-sized iPad Air might continue to use an LCD display.

As for the new iPad Pro models with OLED panels, the transition to the new display technology will eliminate the need for a backlight module, making the device lighter. It will also achieve higher pure black contrast and provide additional enhancements compared to LCD, Mini LED, and other technologies. The new iPad Pro is also expected to be launched in May.
