Galaxy S24 Hits #3 in Japan

Samsung’s S24 Series Smartphones Surprising Success in Japan

Samsung released its highly anticipated S24 series flagship smartphones in January 2024, swiftly launching them in most countries around the globe. However, the situation in the Japanese market unfolded differently, with Samsung officially introducing the device in Japan only on April 11. Surprisingly, despite its short time on the market, the S24 series saw exceptional sales figures.

S24 Series Sales in Japan

According to data from NTT Docomo, within just one month, the Samsung S24 climbed to become the third best-selling smartphone in Japan, closely followed by the S24 Ultra at fifth place. It’s worth noting that due to Samsung not yet launching the S24+ model in Japan, it did not appear on this sales chart. Meanwhile, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 continued to dominate the top two spots in the Japanese smartphone market.

The success of the Samsung S24 series in the Japanese market is primarily attributed to the robust support of Galaxy AI technology. The remarkable AI-driven features showcased by this series have set it apart from numerous smartphones, winning over consumers’ favor. Based on sales data from the first month of its release, market analysts widely believe that the S24 and S24 Ultra are poised to become the best-selling smartphones in Japan in the coming months.

Furthermore, according to the latest report from market research firm Counterpoint, the Samsung S24 Ultra ranked fifth in the list of top ten best-selling smartphones globally in the first quarter of 2024. This flagship phone, priced as high as $1300 (starting at 8899 yuan domestically), stood out among the best-selling Android phones during the same period. In the rankings, the iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 14 held the top four positions, with the S24 Ultra closely following with a 1.9% sales share.
