India’s Smartphone Market in 2023

On February 8, according to recent research from Counterpoint’s India Monthly Smartphone Tracker, India’s smartphone shipments in 2023 remained steady, reaching 152 million units.

It’s worth noting that Samsung led the market in 2023 with an 18% market share, marking its first time at the top since 2017. Vivo secured the second position in 2023 with a 17% market share and dominated the entry-to-mid-level segment with a 33% share. Xiaomi slipped to third place in 2023 but bounced back in Q4 with an 18.3% share. Apple crossed the 10 million unit mark, helping the company clinch the top spot in annual revenue for the first time.

Moreover, 5G smartphone shipments in India accounted for over 52% of the market share in 2023, with a 66% year-on-year growth.
