Snapdragon 8 Gen4 Coming in Oct! Huge Self-Developed Boost

On February 29, Fast Technology reported that at the 2024 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Qualcomm’s Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Don McGuire announced:

The Snapdragon Summit will be held in October 2024, where the company will unveil its flagship product, the Snapdragon 8 Gen4 platform, “I know you all can’t wait for it.”

He also mentioned not to resist or fear artificial intelligence, as it will not replace humans in the short term, but rather serve as a “second brain” of sorts.

According to previous information, the Snapdragon 8 Gen4 mobile platform will utilize TSMC’s 3nm process. The major change is the departure from using the Arm reference CPU architecture, opting instead for the new proprietary Nuvia Phoenix architecture.

Featuring 2 Nuvia Phoenix performance cores and 6 Nuvia Phoenix M cores, forming a new dual-cluster eight-core CPU architecture, this will mark a significant shift in Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 5G SoC history.

Furthermore, the Snapdragon 8 Gen4 will integrate a powerful Adreno 830 GPU, outperforming Apple’s M2 chip by around 10% in 3DMark Wild Life Extreme testing. The expected benchmark score of the production version is anticipated to set a new record.

This processor will also be the most powerful chipset in the Android ecosystem. As per tradition, flagship models such as the Xiaomi 15 series, OnePlus 13 series, Redmi K80 series, Samsung Galaxy S25 series, and others expected by the end of the year will all feature this chip.
