Xiaomi’s Power Push: Snapdragon 8s Gen3 Hits 175M Score, Starts at ¥1999 with Free Bluetooth Headset

Redmi Turbo3

Recently, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen3 and Snapdragon 8s Gen3 chips have been the hot topic in the tech world. Smartphone manufacturers are rolling out new models equipped with these chips. Xiaomi, in particular, has launched a brand-new Turbo series specifically for the Snapdragon 8s Gen3, with the first model being the recently released Redmi Turbo3, positioned as a mid-range performance flagship.

Redmi Turbo3’s competitors include OnePlus Ace3V, Realme GT Neo6SE, and iQOO Z9 Turbo. OnePlus Ace3V and Realme GT Neo6 SE feature the Snapdragon 7+ Gen3, while Redmi Turbo3 and iQOO Z9 Turbo come with the Snapdragon 8s Gen3.

The relationship between Snapdragon 7+ Gen3 and Snapdragon 8s Gen3 is quite simple: the former is a downgraded version of the latter. However, the difference between the two is not significant; unless there are specific requirements, it’s hardly noticeable.

OnePlus Ace3V with Snapdragon 7+ Gen3 and Xiaomi CIVI4 Pro with Snapdragon 8s Gen3 have already been launched. Both phones have AnTuTu benchmark scores of over 1.46 million, based on tests conducted by users, not the manufacturers’ lab scores or official AnTuTu scores, making them quite reliable.

AnTuTu Benchmark Scores

Redmi Turbo3, equipped with Snapdragon 8s Gen3 + Xiaomi HyperEngine 3.0 + Xiaomi Surge OS, can achieve scores of over 1.75 million. However, this is just laboratory data; in daily use, such high scores are unnecessary and could lead to overheating issues.

In terms of heat dissipation, it utilizes Xiaomi’s self-developed IceSeal circulating cold pump technology with a 4800 square millimeter VC liquid-cooled heat dissipation plate, ensuring efficient heat dissipation.

The screen is another highlight of the Redmi Turbo3. It features a 6.67-inch 1.5K resolution BOE/Thermal AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, peak brightness of 2400 nits, and Xiaomi Qingshan eye protection.

Qingshan eye protection is Xiaomi’s eye protection solution, integrating hardware-level low blue light, 1920Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, AI low-frequency flicker dimming strategy, DC dimming, and other technologies, making it more eye-friendly and comfortable to view.

Display Features

In terms of imaging, Redmi Turbo3 is positioned one notch below Redmi K70 and doesn’t feature the latter’s main camera, the Light Hunter 800. To differentiate, the main camera of Redmi Turbo3 is changed to the Sony Light Rhetoric LYT-600, which is actually the same sensor used in OnePlus Ace3V and Realme GT Neo6 SE. In other words, all three phones are positioned similarly, with no performance difference, even using the same sensor for the main camera.

LYT-600, also known as Sony IMX882, has a sensor size of 1/1.95 inches, F1.59 aperture, supports OIS optical image stabilization, EIS electronic image stabilization, and full-pixel omnidirectional focusing.

Additionally, there is an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, typical for mid-range flagships.

Camera Setup

In terms of battery life, it has a built-in 5000mAh battery, supporting 90W wired fast charging, which takes only 34 minutes to charge from 1% to 100%.

Furthermore, Redmi Turbo3 also supports IP64 dust and water resistance, has X-axis linear motors, infrared remote control, and stereo dual speakers. However, to compete with competitors, Redmi Turbo3 has to engage in a price war, which may lead to cutting costs in specifications. Therefore, it uses a plastic frame, plastic back cover, and single-frequency GPS. However, as netizens say, there are no bad products, only unreasonable prices.

Battery and Additional Features

The official price of the 12GB+256GB version of Redmi Turbo3 is ¥1999, with the first sale including a free Bluetooth headset and screen insurance, adding up to ¥300. The actual price is only ¥1699, which seems quite enticing.
