Unexpectedly, the Huawei Pura 70 series was announced for sale at 10:08 a.m. on April 18th. Similar to the previous generation, Huawei did not hold a press conference to introduce the new phone products. Instead, after releasing an open letter to the public, they directly launched sales through four channels: the Huawei online store, authorized e-commerce platforms, Huawei experience stores, and authorized retailers.

On the JD.com channel, 36Kr found that the Pura 70 series includes three versions: the base version, Pura 70 Pro, and Pura 70 Ultra.

Among them, the Pro and Ultra versions were launched first. A manager of a Huawei experience store told 36Kr that the Pura 70 series prototypes have not yet arrived at the store, and the base version will officially go on sale on April 22nd. “We are still waiting for specific notifications,” they added.

It is worth noting that in this generation, Huawei no longer uses the “P” series name, but has changed it to “Pura.” Huawei explained this as “Pura is a new beginning,” carrying an indescribable flavor. On the parameter page, Huawei still hides all information related to chips, including the core processor, in these models.

However, looking at the overall parameters, the difference between the Pura series and the previous P series lies in a relatively younger and more radical design, departing from the heavy business-oriented feel of the past.

In terms of design, the Pura 70 series has abandoned the long-used cylindrical camera module design and adopted a triangular design. Huawei explains this as a “trendsetter.” The choice of body colors is also more diverse: the base version adds two options, Sakura Pink and Ice Crystal Blue, while the Pro version has a silver body, and the Ultra version offers brown and green options.

In terms of imaging, there is not much change in the base version of the Pura 70 compared to the previous one. It uses a new generation of spotlight main camera, increases the light intake, and the 5x optical zoom periscope telephoto lens can provide up to 100x zoom range. Additionally, sports mode shooting, macro, and portrait are also the main scenes for imaging this time. However, the Ultra version focuses on the retractable lens, and besides the increase in light intake, there is a sense of ceremony with the mechanical sound.

AI features are also reflected in this release. The Huawei Pura 70 series supports AI removal function (generative supplementary image content) and AI cloud enhancement function (enhancing image quality).

The biggest highlight in terms of the screen is the ultra-clear display, which can still be clearly seen under strong outdoor light. The second-generation Kunlun glass continues to be used in the Pura 70 series, with a 100% increase in drop resistance.

In terms of battery and charging, the Pura 70 series is equipped with a 4900mAh battery, supporting 66W wired fast charging and 50W wireless fast charging.

In terms of price, the base version of the Pura 70 series starts at 5999 yuan, the Pura 70 Pro starts at 6999 yuan, and the Ultra version starts at 9999 yuan. This time, the Pura 70 series also offers a rare 1TB storage version, but compared to the 512GB storage model, the price is 2000 yuan higher.
