15 Upgrades! iPhone 16 & Plus: Hype Worthy?

With the crazy rise of domestic smartphone manufacturers, the influence of the iPhone in the domestic market can be described as greatly discounted, making it difficult to truly ignite enthusiasm.

On the one hand, domestic smartphones have made many features standard, while Apple has been consistently cutting some essential parameters, such as the 120Hz refresh rate.

On the other hand, domestic new phones have made significant improvements in aspects like camera and performance, with even self-developed systems on the way, greatly enhancing competitive value.

However, despite the significant pressure on iPhone, it doesn’t hinder its further advancement. So, the veil of mystery has been lifted from the two new models, iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus.

iPhone 16 and Plus

According to market leaks, iPhone 16 and Plus versions bring 15 improvements. If a domestic new phone iteration could bring so many changes, it would indeed be very attractive.

However, most of the changes in the iPhone 16 series are just minor enhancements, without significant changes or upgrades.

For instance, the screen refresh rate remains at 60Hz, and the battery capacity of iPhone 16 Plus has been reduced significantly.

Moreover, there won’t be any changes in screen size, and there’s not even news suggesting the product itself will bring excellent eye protection, which is a significant pressure point.

iPhone 16 and Plus

Of course, among the 15 improvements, there are significant upgrades too. For example, the screen adopts a more efficient OLED display, using brighter micro-lens technology, providing users with a clearer and more realistic visual experience.

There’s also a noticeable change in the camera module on the back of the device, with the layout of the rear cameras shifting from diagonal to vertical alignment.

This design not only enhances aesthetics but also facilitates shooting of spatial videos, enriching the user’s shooting experience, reportedly tailored for spatial video production.

Additionally, the iPhone 16 and Plus versions have replaced the ringer/silent switch with the operation button from last year’s Pro models and introduced a new dedicated camera button.

There’s also an improvement in core configurations, adopting the all-new A18 chip and a more powerful neural engine, significantly boosting performance.

The A18 chip uses TSMC’s “N3E” enhanced 3nm process, resulting in a significant performance improvement compared to the previous A16 chip. Coupled with an enhanced neural engine and more cores, it also enhances capabilities in artificial intelligence.

In terms of memory, the new models have increased from 6GB to 8GB, making multitasking and running large applications smoother, providing users with a better user experience.

It’s just unknown whether there have been improvements in heat dissipation. If there have been improvements, naturally, it would be worth everyone’s anticipation.

iPhone 16 and Plus

In terms of battery and charging, iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus have also made significant improvements. The new models use stacked battery technology, increasing battery energy density and lifespan.

This means that even though the battery capacity of the iPhone 16 series has decreased, the actual battery life may not be significantly affected due to technological improvements.

Furthermore, the new models also support up to 40W wired charging and 20W MagSafe wireless charging, significantly speeding up charging and saving users valuable time.

Of course, for environmental protection, after selecting the iPhone 16 series, users may need to separately choose a charger for use.

iPhone 16 and Plus

Another thing to mention is that the iPhone 16 and Plus versions also support new AI features in iOS 18 and a set of device-specific AI features, further enhancing the performance of these features through the more powerful neural engine and upgraded microphone in the A18 chip.

There are also plenty of body colors available, including blue, pink, green, yellow, black, white, and purple, meeting users’ demands for personalization.

It can be said that iPhone 16 and Plus versions bring significant performance improvements, longer battery life, faster charging speeds, and more new features, providing users with an unprecedented user experience.

But as for real advancement, the current market pressure is still significant, and at least these improvements feel like simple enhancements, lacking the continuously stunning feeling.

iPhone 16 and Plus

Finally, whether the iPhone can continue to lead the development trend of the smartphone industry and bring users even better experiences is still unknown.
