Google Pixel 9 Series: Rumors and Expectations
Google has been consistently pushing for the release of its Pixel series smartphones. Recent leaks suggest that Google is planning to launch the all-new Pixel 9 series smartphones in October this year.
As the release date approaches, rumors about the Google Pixel 9 series smartphones have been surfacing.
In a recent leak, actual photos of the Google Pixel 9 Pro have been revealed.
From the images, it can be seen that the rear camera module of the Google Pixel 9 Pro adopts a new oval-shaped design, housing three cameras, with a sensor and an LED flash on the right side.
The front of the Google Pixel 9 Pro still features a centered hole-punch display, with flat edges on the phone. The right side of the phone is equipped with power and volume buttons, while the bottom includes a USB-C port, speakers, and a SIM card tray.
Sources indicate that the Google Pixel 9 Pro will be similar in size to the iPhone 15 Pro, equipped with a periscope telephoto lens, Tensor G4 chip, and offering a version with 16GB of RAM (the previous generation Pro model had 12GB of RAM).
Moreover, the Google Pixel 9 Pro is expected to support satellite connectivity.
According to previous leaks, the Google Pixel 9 series will include three models: Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL, marking the first “XL” version since the Google Pixel 5 series.
Leaks suggest that the Pixel 9 will feature a 6.03-inch screen, Pixel 9 Pro will have a 6.1-inch screen, and Pixel 9 Pro XL will sport a 6.5-inch screen.
Based on renderings circulating online, the three models share a similar exterior design, with the Google Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL models sporting triple rear cameras, while the Google Pixel 9 model has dual rear cameras.
Additionally, a recent report from IT House mentioned that the source, AssembleDebug, discovered various local AI features that the Google Pixel 9 series smartphones will introduce, including OCR, TEXTTOIMAGE, QUESTIONTOANSWER, etc., within applications such as Google AI Core.
Of these features, TEXTTOIMAGE is particularly noteworthy, indicating that the Google Pixel 9 series won’t rely on cloud servers but can run AI models locally to generate relevant images based on user input text content.
Furthermore, regarding OCR, it suggests that the Google Pixel 9 series will further enhance its ability to recognize text in images by calling local AI models.
As for QUESTIONTOANSWER, it was found in the beta version of the Google Messages app code, suggesting that the Pixel 9 series can answer certain user questions by running AI models locally.
The code also reveals other AI features such as AUTOFILLSMARTREPLY (automatic reply suggestions), TEXT_CLASSIFICATION (text content classification), EMBEDDING (used for processing attached images or summarizing PDF content).
The Google Pixel 9 series is also expected to adopt Qi2 charging technology, an upgraded standard that can increase wireless charging speed to 15W and includes magnetic alignment functionality.
Overall, based on existing information, the Google Pixel 9 series is expected to bring upgrades in performance, imaging, AI experience, and more. Interested individuals can stay tuned for further updates.
Apart from the Google Pixel 9 series, Google is expected to unveil the all-new Google Pixel 8a at the Google I/O developer conference in May this year.
Current leaks suggest that the Google Pixel 8a will feature a 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate; powered by Tensor G3 chip, offering 128/256GB of internal storage; a front 13-megapixel camera, and a rear setup of 64-megapixel main camera + 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens; with a built-in 4500mAh battery supporting 27W charging speed.
